Hey Guys,

Looking at getting a 1911 in a .45 but I would like a good quality product and it was recommended to me to try and find one with adjustable sights (Elevation) for when I shoot PPC next year. Looking to keep it below $1000 before taxes.

Let me know what's out there and any opinions would be welcomed.

Thanks
Eric

I think you need to shoot PPC in DA except from the 50, so your choice of 1911's are limited to the SA/DA pistols. Another factor is the amount of shooting you do in PPC. A full match is 150 rounds, which would cost a bunch with a .45.

You can shoot the auto 1500 with any auto as long as it meets the caliber requirements.

I believe that the PPC that they shoot here is a total of 60 Rounds in a match. The score is a little over 500 but not sure exactly what it is. I figured even if I bought $40 of .45 ammo per month that would be okay. As for the SA/DA my buddy shoots with a Sig 226 in 9mm and he shoots it SA.

I'd recommend a Taurus PT1911 (you can see it in my sig pic)

it's a nice affordable 1911, under $1000 tax incl with still enough money left to get some mags or a relaoding press :)

What have you guys heard about the Trojan?

Great gun.

I have one in 40 S&W.

Thinking of one in 45ACP, but may get a Spartan.

150 rds gives you a score of 1500.

60rds gives a score of 600.

These are perfect scores.

FWIW John Pride was the first person to get a perfect score in PPC. He was with the LAPD at the time.

Bump To the top fellas,

Has anyone ever tried a SIG 220 Match?? Hear anyting about the SIG 1911?

All help and opinions are appreciated.

Unless you are buying used, both of those are over your $1000 cut off, IIRC.

You might want to talk to a club member and borrow a pistol for a few tries at PPC before you jump right in. A $100 in ammo might be money well spent to try a few pistols till you see what you like.

I've tried a friends Sig 226 in 9mm and I REALLY enjoyed shooting that but I would like to have a .45ACP. I've also shot a couple revolvers at the club but I would like to get a Pistol first then get a revolver, hopefully the Ruger GP-100 I have in mind with the 6" barrel.

If I were Canadian instead of only a half breed, I would beat a path to Marstar for a Norinco 1911. Yes, I have that much respect for the Norinco 1911 platform. The first pistol is what I would order and the second what I would end up with. Regards, Richard:)

Well, you'd have to 'mark time' while you were beating your path there as they are all 'sold out' of Norc 1911's and no telling when the next shipment will get here on the slow boat.... :p
