Neighbor's dog is harrassing wildlife

Hey, Whoa!
I don't know about Ontario, but in BC you certainly can't kill a cougar or wolf, unless you are licenced to do so, and the season is open on the wolf or cougar.
Whether the predator was "harassing" deer, or moose, has nothing to do with it.
But if it's harassing domestic livestock it's fair game.

JMO to the OP
Dog owners are responsible for the proper behavior of their animals. If you've consulted with MNR and the behavior is considered "illegal" in their books ,then let them do their job.
As the animal in question is someone Pet and not a feral marauder,I would suggest to the individuals who have proposed shooting and burying this fellows family "member" ,think about how they would feel having a "member" of their own family shot and disposed of . Not all dogs are chattel to all owners.
As a former dog owner,I would suggest the recommended illegal activity (SSS) would/could cause repercussions that you would not be prepared to pay.
Let MNR and local HS handle it.

Wow no wonder the liberals are afraid of us and want to take away our arms, one third of the posters advocate killing a neighbors dog the 2nd part are talking of threats to people etc if said actions happened to their dog....only a few advocate a sensible option which is let the authorities decide if this requires a response or not.....imagine the liberals reading this and imagining their prize poodles being gunned down for doing what dogs do.....ya lets alienate ourselves some more people!

You are looking at this wrong, nobody is talking about killing the neighbors dog, they are talking about dispatching a nuisance animal. I don't really have "neighbours", but those around me are familiar with my dog as I am with theirs. When someones Else's negligence is affecting your day to day activities it is just a matter of rectifying the situation, and everyone would agree that having the dogs owner take responsibility for their pet is the NUMBER ONE choice, once that has been disregarded then it is up to the land owner to decide how to fix the situation.
Secondly, the liberals don't fear us, they fear guns, and there is no such thing as facts when it comes to how they think, our discussions mean nothing to them, they manifest facts, not research them.

And use our public statements to help justify their policies! Realize that for the vast majority of the population that resides within urban areas talking of shooting someones dog (which in this case is not threatening the thread poster or his property) irregardless if justified or not percieved in anything but a negative light. We pay people to deal with things like this, so use the resources available! Thats all I will say on the matter you are all grown ups and can hopefully realize the implications of postings on a public forum....Oh and yes the liberals are afraid of us they think that anyone that wants to own a firearm must be a criminal waiting to happen! Enough said!

Quoted by cooey39 : I love my dogs as much as my kids
I agree 100% but if the dog is going at livestock and you've been told and don't do anything about it,it's going down !!!!!

Ok, a lot of instability..Do your kids a favor, don't tell them you love the dog as much as them, it will pay off when they see the psychologist.

I pity your kids if that is what you teach them. I don't "open fire" on anything. You have a problem man, and you need help before you destroy your family from the inside.

Shoot the dog. I wouldn't think twice about it.

I should add; what is the current relationship with the dogs owner? If I like the guy and he's a respectful guy then I'd probably talk to the guy and hopefully get the guy to control his dog. But in this case, the guy is already negligent in allowing his dog(s) to run loose. Odds are he's not likely to care for somebody trying to get him to change that.

Dogs running loose just happens to be one of my major #####es. It totally pisses me off. Not the dogs fault that the owner does not control the animal.

I grew up in the country. Dogs that ran loose like that just 'disappeared'.

Well, I figured there'd be some pink lettering by the time I got back to this thread...

Definitely some mental instability there.

More than just some, sadly. Hopefully he's just playing internet toughguy/ bigot and is not actually as far out in left field as he appears. I was surprised to still see him here this afternoon but I knew it couldn't be long before the ban...
