New 2,000 Meter Range In Grande Prairie Alberta - Show Interest?

Personally, I'd be happy just shooting at dirt hills. Bonus points if they have a small rock in the middle to aim at. That's a pretty good target - considerably more useful than steel.

Somewhere at the AB CFOs office is a range inspector with the latest range design guide who is cringing...

IP address only matters if you have the hardware to connect to the internet.

Ive seen target systems that communicate to the master display via, wi fi, blue tooth, VHF, UHF. All with pros and cons. Communication is easy. Staying supersonic at 2k is the hard part. Also, the detection zone of the equipment needs to get larger. A 3x3' detection area is fine for most. 5 MoA spread at 500m is only 2'. At 2k its 8', so with margin of error youd want a 10x10 detection area.

Steel is nice, easy , cheap and simple. But you get what you pay for. Steel wont tell you where you hit, or which direction you missed, and at 2k you might not even hear impact.

The military has targets for this, but $$$$

Virtually all accoustic detection systems have the supersonic issue. Optical trackers dont have that problem, but they have their own problems (dont usually work at night, weather dependent, keeping lenses clean).

We use our Shotmarkers out to 1K , and use the same two piece ( base and frames) frames for the shorter ranges as well, the microphones are squared at 83".
I can move all four frames in one shot and set them up by myself with no issues with our little trailer. I am.not sure if there is a downside except for the supersonic thing .
For longer distances to 1 mile on my range I used made on the river we used Steel plates and a bullseye target cam
We have found at our range the vast majority of our members just like shooting our steel plates from 200meters to 1 K

Live in Dawson Creek and work at Corlanes, so eagerly waiting to hear on the outcome. I've talked to a lot of customers who would love to have a range like this nearby.

Thanx Cat. Will report back when I hear something. Or if anyone else hears before me, please post .

Pretty danged sure if it all comes to fruition, we can field some shooters from here to make the trip down, over, and up to GP from here - unless they have the road across in by then! LOL
We have the exits for the road across in Timberlea done now when they put in a few more access rods to our subdivisions, so here's hoping!

If anyone ever wanted a specific reason for why inflation is so high, productivity so low, and quality of living is going backwards, look no further than this example. The cost - in struggle, pain and time for those involved - of accomplishing any improvement in this country is too high.
