New 243

oh I'm so confused too many numbers and all that balistic mumbo jumbo, like comparing apples to oranges to car batteries :)

I'll stick to my 25-06 :)

Untill I can convince my wife I need another smaller rifle :)

Well, on that note, a .243 (or a 6.5 x 55) is the perfect caliber for the little lady... ;)

:D

she likes to shoot left eye, right hand, so no rifles for her :runaway:

now handguns thats another story, she has take a liking to my .357 ruger security 6, stainless :(

this spring I'll be getting a rifle in something bigger 357 or 375, I'm thinking a wildcat 303 enfield cartridge on a No4 enfield reciever.

then next fall I should be looking for a poodle caliber rifle, that is unless I find a nice Inglis HiPower this spring then the plan is all pushed back a few months. :D

numbnuts, ouch that hurt. how old are you anyways? 12?

Yeah, you got me there, Im 12 (actually 11 and a half, my 12th birthday is just before christmas)

Yeah, your right Ted, you should have seen what I wrote before... But I thought better of it...
Mommy told me to be polite to the mentally challenged...

Prosper, you better run the 95gr 243 Berger at 3200fps through your ballistic program and see what you think of it. BC of .513. At 350yards and out its #'s are better than the 75gr 224 starting out at 3300fps. Furthest yote to date with it is 723yards.

That is an awesome looking gun. I might not know much but I am sure that is good enough for whatever yote you want to use it on

Nice rifle T/B... .243 is one of my fav coyote smashers. I like the 55gr Nosler BT's they work well at long range and buck the wind fairly well.
BTW I just noticed your Avatar... very cool  is that the Leup on your LSS? I am working on the Big Red series of Leupolds...;)

Hmmm... Where have I seen that before...
REDD, I've got half a box of factory 55's you can have next time I come up...

went out this afternoon in very gusty winds to try some different loads in my 243

fired 9 groups with 9 different loads

a few that stood out are a 58 gr Vmax @ 3880 fps (.5" group), 70 gr Nosler BT @ 3500 fps (.6" group), and a 87 gr Vmax @ 3100 fps (.2" group!)

here's a pic of the 87 grain load (Varget, W-W brass, F210M primer)

:D its a shame this rifle is a donor for a custom!
