Correction. ATR wanted to charge that guy a fee to advertise their name on his barrel.
Someone has a severe misunderstanding here.
Every rifle I rebarrel gets the data info either laser, or CNC cut engraving.
I DO also on the opposite side of the caliber data info engrave our company name, PROVIDING that the client has no opposition to this.
The engraving is 1 small part of the cost of the rebarrelling, just as blueprinting the action is part of the cost of rebarrelling as well, not additional. I do not just screw in a barrel and hope the action is true.
Most of the high end gun makers have their name on the rifles as well.
Part of the reason for this is to have 100% certainty that the work was done here, and part of it is to show that the rifles produced here DO shoot, if I was not proud of my work I would not likely want anyone to know who did it.
With our reputation for extremely accurate rifles we have encountered a few individuals claiming that the rifles they were selling were ours. Without our name on it , it is pretty easy to tell it was not built here.
To date only 1 client has asked us not to put our name on his rifle in a visible area, which needless to say was complied with.
Just to clarify again there is NO additional charge for engraving, data stamps MUST be put on the barrel, I just don't believe in hammering a custom barrel with steel stamps. Engraving looks better and offers zero chance of damage to the steel.
