New .32 Rimfire Ammo!

I finally got a chance to do some more shooting today, and Im still having the intermittent firing issue, so Ill have to look into seating the ball more firmly. On another note, I have to firmly suggest that the ramset blanks are NOT] to be used as the propellant charge due to the incredible variations in powder. I have had some "mouse farts" and many which seemed much more powerful than should be used in guns of this age. When I boufht this gun I noticed that it had one chamber with a wall that was a little thinner than the rest, but I thought it wouldnt be a problem. Today I was shooting, and the fifth round was way louder than it should have been and it kicked harder than usual. Then I tried to move the hammer to half #### so I could pull out the cylinder, and it wouldnt go. Turns out the wall of that one thin chamber had ruptured and locked itself against the frame. Luckily for me it was a clean split with no shrapnel. The body of the gun seems ok, I jut need to locate a new cylinder I can fit to it. No harm done, but the moral of the story is to never use smokeless powder in guns that weren't designed for it unless you can precisely control your load.

Thanks for the update and sorry to hear about your cylinder. The Ramsets, even the green ones, I am hesitant to use - and now I won't for sure! In past tests I have noticed that the green ramsets drive a round ball FAR deeper into whatever I am shooting at, than a reload using a charge that replicates the original ballistics (which when under a RB means even less pressure - lighter round and should be somewhat greater internal volume). That makes it likely the green Ramsets are exceeding factory .32 Colt/Rimfire pressures. Check out the Cast Boolits thread, they also abandoned the ramsets as anything but a primer.

I open mine, dump the powder, cut the brass down and then use them as the primer only. What brand is your revolver? There was one up for parts only just this past week.

I was just getting lazy using only the ramsets, but ill have to go back to black powder once I find the cylinder. Its a lee arms red jacket no 4

Last batch of new made .32RF that I recall was made by CBC and marketed by Navy Arms..
They also had .41RF made. Apparently it was a bit hot, and resulted in some cracked Remington Derringer hinges.

I cannot understand why someone has not had runs of .25, 32, 38 and .44 rimfire made. There has got to be a market.
As far as that goes, reintroduction of .25 Stevens Long rimfire would make sense. It was an excellent cartridge. Would be at least as useful as the little .17s.

Pardon my ignorance but isn't one of the basis of establishing "antique status" for a firearm that no current ammunition is available or made? Considering the slant of our new government I would imagine a very unpleasant outcome. "Antique" firearms that are currently selling for almost outrageous prices could become fodder for the steel furnace.

There is a list of acceptable cartridges on RCMP website.
It was based on not commonly available.
The rimfire cartridges are more than not commonly available.

There are a few antique legal cartridges that are even commercially made. .38 special rechambered guns even fall into the category.
Nothing is simple or logical but that's what we got

My question was in response to the fellows request that the ammunition become readily available. Big brother is watching hahaha
