New 358 Win Improved

unless a guy wants to shoot 150 or 165gr bullets, the 30-06 has no advantage, and several disadvantages over the 358IMP ;)

While the 338 Court Jester is a good round, it bests the 30'06 in no way I can see save forthe "short stroke" argument. The '06 is far more versatile,- good with 110gr for pests to 220 gr for beluga whales, is far more readily available etc. bla bla bla.

I saw a hunting show where they were shooting bison (full grown bison, not small cows) with the .338 Federal, 185gr TTSX bullet, Using AR rifles.

One was 150 yards, one was 260, both got full penetration on the bison (broadside) and dropped the bison in short order.

It was impressive to see!

As hunters increasingly use AR's in the USA, I think that this will be a great boost for the 338 Fed, because certainly some of those guys are going to want to hunt elk and moose with their AR's and this is a way to get some real horsepower in the AR platform.

Thats a great point Gatehouse, anything that helps to make the AR platform look more hunter friendly is fine by me!

Neat to see the data between the Fudderal and the '06. The .338 beats the .30-06 on all fronts, if only by a hair. That is until you sling a 225 grain Accubomb at over 2500 fps from the Federal  .

Obviously the .30 cal pills have a higher BC, but what range are most people safely shooting at anyways? Me...I limited myself to 30 yards or less :p

Ahhhh the .358 IMP.
