If the ammo situation ever improves, I'll seriously consider buyig one. Paying close to $10/round doen't exactly make me want to do my "happy dance".

Expect to pay closer to $15 now...

I have a pallet of .50BMG arriving any day now and it cost me far more than you think... However it sure makes it hard to sell rifles if you cannot supply ammo.

My recomendation would be to do your homework before buying either. Take a CLOSE look at them and the dollars you are spending for them, quality is a Major issue with these rifles. You can get so much more in a Canadian built custom for the same dollar than you can ever hope to get from one of those.

Just my Opinion

I agree...

I was courted by Zestava at IDEX two years ago. However, I was really really not impressed by the quality given the price.

Yes it may be available. However we already have better quality production and custom rifles available, at better pricing, so I never persued it.

The cheap ammo problem is easy to solve. Canada needs to invade and take over the US!! LOL

In fact according to the new copy of VHP magazine, 50 ammo is getting in short supply here/there too. According to 1 article, the US government has decommissioned and closed all ordinance plants except Lake City and to support the war , are buying ammo from many other countries, some who used to be not so friendly.
I don't get this at all. Luke Airforce base is not far from me, and I have seen the stock piles of ammo there and know from friends who own companies that demil ammo, there are tons being demilled every month, so am at a total loss as to what is really going on in the 50 ammo market.
Even here ammo is getting more expensive.

Getting back to the original topic here about the Zastava rifle from Wolverine Supplies. While I do agree that $7k plus tax is a lot, I actually got one. I still have to finish paying it off but it should be here soon enough. I managed to find ball ammo for it at $7.50 a rnd.

Jeremy - bicycle question...how do ya carry a 50 on one?? in 4 feet of godd*m snow???

Anyway, some numbers which may be of interest - actual cost of reloading, with prices I paid for current components...some prices may be higher now, your mileage may vary. Presuming brass is already owned.

$.96 (powder) + $.45 (primer) + $.45 (AP bullet) = $1.86

$.92 (powder) + $.45 (primer) + $3.00 (match bullet) = $4.37

Of course I realize that the cost of brass, press, and reloading dies ain't in here, gotta term that out, I guess.....

I think allot of cheap ammo is disapearing in the USA, especialy 7.62 nato wich is selling for what we are paying for it now. Just because of the ammo situation(or specilized reloading gear/components) I would never consider a .50, and go strait to a .338, you could actualy afford to put it some seriouse time with that round.
