6 lug so it can’t be too fat. Rebated rim sounds like a 6.5-284 stretched to ‘06 length. Awesome. Would be mean in an 84L kimber.

I would love to see it chambered in a 84L.

Probably not so much. Although I applaud WBY for trying to modernize their cartridge line up, this offering looks more like 1999 than 2019. It will appeal to hunters that want a 6.5-06 in a WBY rifle. I'm not so sure there is that many of them. On the other hand, the 6.5 PRC seems to have a pretty steady following already. The PRC will never be as popular as the 65 Creed, especially as it is being moved into the US military, but sales of the PRC will dwarf the WBY cartridge.

But- kudos to WBY for not clinging to the past and realizing that belts and double radius shoulders aren't in high demand anymore.

I think its pretty cool. Fills a long action properly, more rounds in a mag....doesn’t require a short magnum action. Would really shine in a scaled down action where you can make a true light weight rifle. Hopefully there is lots of cheap brass for it

It would appear that they are going to make this more affordable based on the msrp of the factory ammo stated. Probably won't see it on the shelves at walmart but it's not a bad thing to have a bit of space from the people of creedmoor/people of Walmart.

The case will likley be a good candidate for necking up as well. Maybe that's where weatherby is headed with it.

I never understood the dislike for belted mags... I've never encountered any kind of feeding issues and it makes for a hell of a strong head.
