75 years ago Ackley had the 228 Ackley Medium (very very similar to the 22 Creedmore), and 70 grain pure copper bullets.

There was also the 22 Lindahl Chucker in the 1940's almost identical to the 224 Valkyrie.

I got an UL in 30-06 for my little guy but I think it might be too much. 6.5 rpm might be just what the doctor ordered with a custom stock.
 
If my drawing is correct, it looks like the picture of the 6.5 Wby RPM round, then Wby have created a non belted 264 WM with a rebated rim, steeper shoulder and about 3 grains less H20 Capacity. It will bring along the feeding problems, associated with Long Action Remingtons, that is experienced by the cartridges with rebated rims and steep shoulders. Like the 264 WM, 6.5 WSM, 26 Nosler , and 6.5-300 Wby the extra powder capacity does nothing much for 127 - 140 grain bullets except create more Recoil and bullet failures. Hand loaded the 6.5 PRC runs very close to the same velocities with much less recoil and muzzle blast. I don't think Wby hit the ball out of the park with this design.

Not perfect but much better design as far as case capacity and bullet seating.

Looks like on Sept 3rd Weatherby will introduce more than just a new cartridge, looks like a new action also, as well as Titanium version of the new Mark V Action,

I was thinking a Titanium 6 Lug Mark V action, a new Carbon Fibre version of the Bell & Carlson Stock matched up with the new 6.5 RPM cartridge would make a dandy back packing rifle..........


 
According to the WBY site MSRP is a little south of $3500 USD. Not a small price point, but I suppose carbon fiber and titanium are expensive.
 
I did a 6.5 A-square this spring,,, I dosen't have the Punch-Junk of the new Weatherby Mag cartridge,,, it won't make a lick of difference to the thick skins I go after this year...

I hope they have some good marketing that will move it forward in the crowded market place...

There might be 3 to 4 new cartridges writing to be released in the years to come,,, everyone wants a peace of the pie...

Mr Newton knew this back in 1887 on his first 6.5... LOL
 
One would think that at 4.9 lbs it will be nice to pack,,, on the other side is how accurate will it be considering that most common rifles tip the scales at 6 ish lbs on up to 10 and heavier...

I like lighter rifles to pack,,, but I also like heavies that stay well planted or shooting from the hands,,, 8 3/4 to 12 ish lbs are my go to rifles...

Of course each person gets to pick and choose what works for them...

The only advantage to a light rifle is your biggest disadvantage when it finally comes time to use it.
But lightweight seems to sell best in the new age of fitness, diet etc.

Some people struggle to shoot well that’s for sure. I don’t know if that’s the rifles fault though.
 
An 80km zero check a week ago with a 6lb rifle. 4” at 400 yds is pretty mundane really. Light rifles are made for killing things. Doing that isn’t hard.
