New 900 m competition range in central BC

Do you guys have a mailing address set up for this club to which people could send some donations to, to help fund the project?

Oh man, I haven't been following this thread for a while, so it was approved and it is being built? Where do I find a site for the club or who do I contact for info? This is awesome!

This is great news! i grew up in Kamloops and have many great memories from the Heffley Creek gun club and the RMR range! Another great range never hurts!

Is this going up Gorman where the shooting bench has been for a while? If so are you guys going to move/block the horse trails at the top of that canyon? Is there an estimate on completion? Membership cost?

Im interested for sure. Need more of these in the west. Finding cut lines is harder then id like it to be with so little free time these days.

Nice to see someone other than the BCRA mafia taking charge of long distance shooting facilities in BC. Can't wait to see a shoot off the DCRA/BCRA grid. The chilliwack/mission dynasty and its mandarins will collectively crap its pants.

I would be very interested provided that I could shoot my long range black powder cartridge rifles there. I'm in the lower mainland but would be more than happy to make the drive :)

Chris.

I apologize to everyone for the length of time its taken me to respond, work... Anyhow we are making progress, 300 m has been cleared, but we are done for this year as winter has arrived. Gunsmoke, its going to take awhile for the first long shot to be taken. Realistically I would expect the first match to be late 2014 or spring 2015. We are in the process of setting up a fullbore group as a sub local of the club so that if there are any donations or funds that people want to put directly into the long range they can. I expect there to be a membership cost for the fullbore group above and beyond the standard "club" cost. At this time it looks like we are going to use electronic targets as its a reasonable cost compared to building butts and the cost of target service over the long run. We are approved up to the 338 lapua template. I will look into what its gonna take for 50 BMG, but no guarantee. Black powder will be welcome, as well I plan on there be a few "obnoxious" matches, muzzle brakes allowed. I plan on there being 2 benches at each shooting position so that everyone can play. This is a work in progress and any and all suggestions will be listened to.

donp,
You make it sound sooooo easy to set up a range in BC, that I envy you westerners. Here we try and slightly modify an existing range and the SQ who enforce the FA, are all over with red tape, and they will not tell us their requirements until we have put something together, and invested funds, before they start having us tear it apart for the simplest reason.
I thought we would all be working with the RCMP range building manual. But here they enforce the "NO SKY" rule, so long ranges are difficult and extremely expensive.
How can you be approved for .338L without your range being built?

When we had the "suitability" inspection, the inspector approved it for 338... That easy. There has been a few years worth of work so far to get to where we are now with more to come. Determination is the key.
