New 9mm HK P30LS vs Sig P226 MK25

I'm looking for a new 9mm. I've got it down to 2 (for now :) )

The HK P30LS and the Sig P226 MK25

I've just ordered an HK45 Fullsize. So, my thought process says get the P30 as the grips are almost identical to the HK45 and that can only help with my shooting.

But the Sig MK25 just calls to me. *Sigh* And i guess there is something to be said for not having two Pistols that look the same.

Any thoughts are most welcome.
 
In my opinion, you might as well go for an all steel framed gun when you are already getting a HK45 which like you said is similar to the HK P30. I think it is good to diversify your collection! In the end, two amazing firearms but I would go with the Sig. Just a great gun and mine are running strong, no failures whatsoever! Good luck with your decision :)
 
Performance wise, these two pistols are very similar. The Sig is definitely a more traditional design, the HK's mag release drives some people bonkers. Both are hammer fired traditional DA guns, the P30 is similar to the HK45 but the grip is a bit smaller and more modular. The old Sig grip is fairly large, you might want to handle both first.

The 226 MK25 has the standard aluminum frame common to the 226 line. Honestly I think you're paying a lot extra for an engraving of an anchor with the MK25

I will give you my impressions, as I own a P30L and my buddy has a HK 45 which I have shot directly in comparison. The trigger on the P30 is not nearly as nice as the 45, and the Sig triggers are also nicer. If you can borrow or rent a P30 before you buy it, I would suggest you do.
Do not get me wrong though, I do really like my P30L and feel that it has fantastic ergonomics and the trigger is just an acquired taste.
 
I love my HK45....except the trigger. The Sig triggers, particularly the SRT are orders of magnitude better. dunno what HK was thinking, but the trigger sucks especially in DA..SA is marginally better, but still crunchy.
 
I'd go with the MK25, I like to have different platforms.

If you want to use the P30 as a training tool for your .45, spend the money on ammo instead and practice.

Spend the 1100.00 plus on Ammo? I won't even see the HK45 until Christmas....at the earliest. So, i was going to get a 9mm, as ammo is half the price of .45

The MK25 doesn't come with the SRT.....i wonder if i could order one with it.
 
Both great guns...both have their strong points. I own both, but a P226 rather than the MK25. I personally like the grip better on the P30, as it is customizable to my liking, but I do prefer the trigger better on the 226. My 226 has the SRT trigger installed in it, and it is by far, in my opinion that is, a better trigger than HK's. I don't think that the MK25 is equipped with the SRT, however I could be mistaken.

If you've already ordered the HK45, you may want to try a non-polymer frame pistol, as mentioned in a couple of the previous posts. Who knows, you may like it better...

If I had to choose, I'd go with the MK25, although if I could add another to the mix, I'd more than likely go with an Enhaced Elite...the SRT is awesome.

I believe the Enhanced Elite goes for around 1350.00 or so....that's a tad higher then i want to go.

I'm not sure if they're that much...I guess it depends on the retailer. I purchased my Elite Dark in 9mm, with SRT and adjustable SIG night sights for $1150 BNIB. I was sold on the gun as soon as I held it...the aluminum grips are awesome.

No one has stated the obvious choice yet... Buy both... You will eventually so just do it... :)
 
I have the MK25. I love this gun.
The one thing that the H&K has over the Sig is long-term durability in hard round count (but not by much) just by the fact that polymer frames tend to be more durable than aluminum.
Everything else is coming up Sig for advantages.
 
I've owned two Sigs and both of them were lemons straight when I got them. I now own two Hks, a USP and a P30L. Sigs QC alone is enough to make me turn my nose at them now. I'm not saying you can't get a good one, I'm just saying I had probably the worst experience imaginable with them. I second the idea of using the P30LS to train, and shoot the Hk45 when finances allow, they are essentially the same pistol control and feel wise.

Put it this way, I haven't fired it (no one has) and I'm getting rid of it (there's a first time for everything, in 30 years). So much for German superiority. I've owned an M&P45, and frankly, in my humble opinion it's light years ahead of the HK. I absolutely hate the ergos on that gun.
