New addition, .366 Wagner-Update bloodied rifle.

considering the cost/quality of the rifle and it's caliber conversion ability, A good scope and mounts are warranted no? It all comes back to the old adage "you get what you pay for"

i had EAW in the past they re not bad but there is some solutions that work at least as good as the EAW without even a fraction of the price but the integral rail is cutting the options ... the great interest about the integral rail is that is more easy to set up.

a caliber conversion ability needs to have the scope bases put on the barrel like the blaser system otherwise if you have like the take down of the Sauer 202 you need to shoot at least to check and but all the peices together tighted ...

The blaser system was a consideration when I was looking at these types of rifles, but then I would want another set of mounts on every barrel and not stop there and have a scope for every barrel/caliber so the cost would be more. The rifle itself was also considerably more money (thousands more). I may still buy one in future though.

Scope mounted.
The 4x12 is overkill, all I had on hand, so I will be looking at a 2x7 or 1x5 in the future.

I like this stock design, fits my hand pretty good, but as you can see I had to put a slip on recoil pad to lengthen it, still too short. I may have to add a piece to increase the LOP from 12" to about 14-14.5" to fit my monkey arms and create Ugly Gun II.;) Got a couple ideas about stock finishes.

Well the ammunition finally arrived two days before the caribou opener, thank you Canpar and Canada Post:rolleyes:, and I got to the range right after receiving it to site in the gun. Opened the box of Prvi 285 grainers and pulled out a cartridge and pushed it home, all good. Took out a second cartridge and pushed it in and noticed a problem, bullets were jammed against the magazine. Tried to push them around and ease them up but no luck with that. So took the screws out and dropped the magazine and then managed to get both cartridges out. So it was a single shot while I sighted it in and then I tried one shell in the magazine and loading a single into the chamber. I fired the first shot, racked the bolt and the cartridge in the magazine was picked up and loaded with no problem. So it seems for now I have a repeater of sorts which is okay, chasing caribou and not bears in thick stuff, but want to get the issue straightened out.

Anyone else experienced something like this with factory ammunition?

In the future I plan on reloading so OAL will not be an issue, I will make sure of that.

Shot a box of ammo and recoil from the bench was fine and not a problem, weighs just under 8lbs 10oz as it sits unloaded, but I used to shoot slugs from a lightweight O/U. Overall a good day shooting and I like shooting bigger guns it seems. Kick myself for not picking up the 416 Rem Mag or 458 Win Mag that were for sale around here in the local classifieds.

Rim of second Shell bringing up on the previous? Shorter bullets may be required.

The quick fix for this, until you get to loading your own, is to just file or cut the lead tips off the bullets, and check to see how they feed of course. Give that a try, and let us know how it works.

Once you have your dies you can just seat the bullets a bit deeper.

NL-Hunter I am between Gander and Grand Falls-Windsor.

I will have to try the filing out when I get back, a guy at the range mentioned that, leave for 3 weeks tomorrow. Hope to get the dies and bullets in place for when I get back.

Matrix bullets worked well in the 9.3x62 I assume on your caribou and moose hunt.

Probably lots of us should be making the switch. Marshall is undeniably the "little guy" in the projectile world. Given the quality of the product and the fact that they are made in Canada there is very little to recommend against it. I remember what happened to Wildcat Bullets several years ago. Great product, low sales, company sold to the US. We should do what we can to avoid a repeat.

Your issue with the shorter mag box is common on the M96 Mauser based Husky built 9.3x62mm rifles like yours, the M98 based Husky's have a longer mag box that is just right for the Prvi and most other factory length ammo. As mentioned you will need to reload with a shorter COAL and sacrifice some powder capacity.
