Scope mounted.

The 4x12 is overkill, all I had on hand, so I will be looking at a 2x7 or 1x5 in the future.
I like this stock design, fits my hand pretty good, but as you can see I had to put a slip on recoil pad to lengthen it, still too short. I may have to add a piece to increase the LOP from 12" to about 14-14.5" to fit my monkey arms and create Ugly Gun II.

Got a couple ideas about stock finishes.
Well the ammunition finally arrived two days before the caribou opener, thank you Canpar and Canada Post

, and I got to the range right after receiving it to site in the gun. Opened the box of Prvi 285 grainers and pulled out a cartridge and pushed it home, all good. Took out a second cartridge and pushed it in and noticed a problem, bullets were jammed against the magazine. Tried to push them around and ease them up but no luck with that. So took the screws out and dropped the magazine and then managed to get both cartridges out. So it was a single shot while I sighted it in and then I tried one shell in the magazine and loading a single into the chamber. I fired the first shot, racked the bolt and the cartridge in the magazine was picked up and loaded with no problem. So it seems for now I have a repeater of sorts which is okay, chasing caribou and not bears in thick stuff, but want to get the issue straightened out.

Anyone else experienced something like this with factory ammunition?
In the future I plan on reloading so OAL will not be an issue, I will make sure of that.
Shot a box of ammo and recoil from the bench was fine and not a problem, weighs just under 8lbs 10oz as it sits unloaded, but I used to shoot slugs from a lightweight O/U. Overall a good day shooting and I like shooting bigger guns it seems. Kick myself for not picking up the 416 Rem Mag or 458 Win Mag that were for sale around here in the local classifieds.
