Depending where you are someone may be able to loan you an armouers wrench. Did you try inserting it with it fully loaded and bolt closed? Try inserting it with bolt back or 9 rounds in the magazine. To unload ammo you just have to push it out opposite the direction you pushed it in

Magpul with a couple dummy rounds slid in and locked, no problem. LAR15 mag with 10 live rounds wouldn’t lock in.
Fully loaded, bolt closed, safety on.
I’ve had a couple drinks I’m not gonna go play with it now, not with live ammo. I’ll try in the morning what you suggested. Thanks

With serial number visible they get the concrete block that is an AR accessory as a bonus.
Dude I will also weld a cage of rebar thru my lowers before I set them in a few yards of concrete. Cant be to safe with weapons designed to kill people.
They will need a crane to lift that block... hahahahaha
Yup ! Will only hand in my stripped lowers when they come and get them.

Some LAR mags (mainly the full 30 round length ones) fit TIGHT. It's easier to do it with the bolt locked open.
Insert magazine, hit the bottom of the mag with force (no love tap.) to seat it. Should be easier with 9 or less. But hold the rifle with a good grip so it doesn't move, and smack the mag into the gun.
Hold the mag, push on the primer/non pointy end until it pops out of the mag.
I built my first AR with a NEA lower and had the same problem, some mags engaged and others would not. I took the mag release apart and noticed some burrs in the casting on the receiver. A couple of light strokes with a dollar store emery board smoothed it out and I haven't had an issue since. I was pleasantly surprised how little it took.
So when I went to install the barrel today, it stuck out 1/8”-1/4, when I pushed it in it moved the BCG.

Bit of a fight to get the barrel nut in the right spot to get the gas tube in.

Other than that, handguards on, flash hiders on, snugged up the buffer tube nut, mounted sights, I think this things ready to make noise.
Would you guys suggest a scope? Leave it with pop up sights? Bipod or just use a chunk of wood?
I can’t wait hopefully two weeks I’ll be home again and see if all this work paid off!

Seems a little redundant to keep spending money on building something you can’t even shoot. Get yourself a NR while you can, or spend the money donating to the legal challenge so you can actually build and shoot your AR in the future !

I’ve been working on this one since last fall and would like to see it to fruition. It’s my first build and there’s so much support and info on how to build these was why I chose this platform.
Which Sets? The Maccabee SLR is prohibited as is the the ATRS Modern series now.
Build it anyways. Hopefully we will get rid of these tyrants and get back to normal and then you will be ready to shoot it.
