New Arrivals: Swiss K31 Carbines in 7.5x55

That was a sh!tty way to start my morning......

Missed the boat on the K31s and have been kicking my ass ever since. Have a hard time spending $600+ for a rifle of the EE that was worth no more than $300 two years ago.

A good K31 is worth every bit of $600. The rifle below has comparable accuracy with my CZ 527 varmint.

I got mine for 300$ at wholesale sports afew months ago... Then a crate of ammo afew weeks ago for 280$ from wholesale localy. Not one round threw it yet tho.

I'm not saying they aren't worth it, just that seeing as they didn't cost as much a short period of time ago it seems a little steep for me. I'll break down and buy one some day when I absolutely need to have one, but that isn't today. I had one bought off the EE a few years ago, but the rifle never showed and the guy refunded me the cash. Still have 60 rounds of PPU for a rifle I never got to play with.

Lol! I'm actually kind of relieved. I thought oh here we go again, now I need to buy three of these!!

I love my K31!

I just had to have three as soon as I shot my first one. They are all tack drivers. I suspect the GP11 has something to do with it, seems like a match made in heaven.

They all looked like #### when I bought them but with a little careful restoration they came up fine. I took a load of pics, here's a few of them.

Nice work. When I saw the first pictures I thought " wow, his are in nice shape! "
I'm going to have a go at my stock.
Mine in a WSS $299 rifle with beech stock, 1946. It's pretty beat up around the butt, but the metal is quite nice. We went through about a dozen before I made my choice.
I hope mine turns out as nice as yours did.

Probably laundry soap I'd guess.

Yes it is laundry soap, anything to get the dirt out.

For the action and magazine touch up I used blue wonder. I have never tried it before, I think it's good stuff too. It's nothing like blue as I have known it, it's something completely different. It makes the workshop smell like a hospital

I used high temp engine block paint for the non essentials and baked for two hours.

That's what I paid for mine from WSS as well :) Yours will turn out just as well if you take your time. Allow four days if you have not restored a rifle before.

PS I used true oil and rubbed down with fine wire wool to get the finish right. It's too shiny as is.

Beautiful, Plonker. Fantastic job.

Thanks, but it's not hard to do. Just takes time.

The nice thing about these K31's ( apart from the triggers ) is that the bores are like new. I put it down to the non corrosive ammo and grease in the bore. A lot of people seem to think it a special magic grease, but it's just ordinary general purpose grease.
