New bolt action .357mag from Ruger

Yes they do, Epps have about 5 listed and as far of quality there is no comparaison with the new Marlington... Ruger are so much more well made plus the rings, it is a no brainer... JP.

A super lever is the Big Boy from Henry slick action and finition is flawless, put them byside a newer production Marlin and..... JP.

I wouldn't call it a new rifle, just a new chambering.

I wouldn't call it a rifle.....more of a carbine.

And Yes it's just a new chambering not a new carbine...unless of course you buy it new then it would be a new carbine but not new in it's model only new to you in a new chambering newly available for the first time.

Looks kinda neat I guess. It would be on the list of must-buys if I won the lottery! :p
Lack of premium bullets and the low magazine capacity will make me stay with the 1894 lever action for now. If the new hornady 140gr FTX shot well out of that ruger it might make for an interesting close-range deer rifle.

In the bolt cofiguration i think they are accurate for a pistol caliber 2 inch or so is what i am getting from the Ruger on the other hand with my lever groups open up a bit, But the Ruger 77-44 mounted with my Trijicon 1.5 X 4 could be an easy 125 metres rifle... JP.

So from the guys with experience between these two cartridges what would be the advantage between the 44 and 357 other then the 357 with 5 round mag. Would reloading be one or availability of factory ammo ? I'm looking at getting the 44 mag. ASAP. I’m not sure I would like to wait till the 357 hits the shelf...

.357mag = less power, less recoil and less cost of ammo

.44mag= more power, more recoil( still mild but more) and more cost of ammo(not so much if you reload but still more)

If you hunt with it deer and bear 44mag then 357 mag... If you hunt critters and plink a lot 357 mag and 44mag... JP.

.357 magnum will still easily kill deer and bear within 100 m, and if your handloading you can load em pretty hot.

I wouldn't hesitate to use either as long as you know the limitations, which boil down to bullet drop at any distances past 100m.

I own a Ruger 77/44 and like it. Not sure whether having one in .357 is all that appealing. I would rather have it in .44 magnum.

Regardless of calibre these rifles improve significantly with the addition of a Volquartsen sear. The factory trigger pull is very heavy.

In the model 77-357 it will be more to have the pair but if it is accurate as my 77-44 is i will shoot it alot and if they get one out in 480 Ruger i will get it there is something very good about pistol caliber in bolt action it does put them at full accuracy potential just love those pistol caliber carbines... JP.

This carbine is now at the very top of my wish list. I might even sell a couple of handguns to make room, both space and budget-wise.

Just perfect for the couple hundred .357 Magnum 125 grain JHP reloads that I don't shoot in my revolvers.

This rifle/barrel should last a long long time, if not forever, since pistol cartridges don't punish them like full rifle calibers.
