This thread is about a new Canadian pistol builder/gunsmith that wants to make a go of it in our small market. I applaud this business and am thinking about making a purchase. What does it have to do with your crappy chinise made 1911? If you have no respect for yourself and the gun comminity by purchasing a terribly made firearm most likely by underage workers in harsh conditions go ahead. I ask you not to litter this thread with posts of how your purchased junk is good enough for you or how your life sucks.
If things are hard going for you right now - I hope for better times for you. I don't think I need to read about them here.
A great platform to throw $1000 at? Why not just start out where you'll end up?
You can turn any POS into something else, but why bother? If I were buying a Norinco, I would keep it a Norinco. Dressing it up like a top grade gun isn't fooling anyone except the cash strapped owner. Check the EE, there are lots of Chinese guns that guys have spent retarded amounts of money on, only to have them sit in limbo because nobody is willing to pay what the owner thinks they are worth. I am not against buying Chinese guns, they are inexpensive copies of tried and true designs. Just don't kid yourself into thinking that your Norc is a couple of upgrades away from being an STI or Kimber.
some people look at guns like cars,,
cant afford a nissan skyline?
buy the same chassis and add the parts you need and go from there.
I cannot justify $1500 in 1 lump on a gun to get ______ as a result.
I can justify $400 and $50 every couple of months on parts.
in the end i can do the machining myself or at my buddies CNC / CMM shop and hand fitting and finishing is only going to be limited by the info i can get through various resources (books Internet and a smith's email)
i'll be able to get $1000 worth of work done for probably closer to $600.
im not worried about resale im worried about result... if your worried about resale get something else... but im sure youll find most are not in the BUSINESS of guns.. we are consumers of guns.
i dont expect to get my money back.. as i dont expect to sell it.
I have said I would buy a $1500 gun if I can save up for it... but for way more people out there than not.. $1500 is better spent in too many other area's / aspects of life to justify it by any other means but saving over a long period of time.
lets not talk about the stuff for my car or other hobbies I can buy for that price.
please remember I did say i would pay that from these guys if their CANADIAN product can outperform or equal a CZ tactical sport.
