the S&W M&P may fit the bill too
Needs a chrome barrel still
HK and Sig come close but crome barrel and backstraps are needed too
I don't see the CF going with a polymer frame pistol for general issue. I'm thinking a 9m 1911 fits well into the picture, and tooling/licensing won't be an issue for Colt Canada.
As of February 2003:
The P-01 is now a NATO classified pistol and issued the NATO stock number NSN 1005-16-000-8619.

The GSP must not have any

There is a list of specific requirements for the GSP in ANNEX A of the document. Can anyone identify an existing handgun which the Canadian Forces appears to be focusing on?
Glock 17 is the real way to go. Already proven time and time again with military and police. The price is right as well.
I really hope Colt Canada acquires a license to build in Canada.
Once in a while I see a post like this that gives me a really specific reaction.
Either it's meant as a joke, in which case it's laugh-out-loud funny, or it's meant to be serious, in which case it's laugh-til-you-tear-rib-cartilage hysterical.
But since I can't tell which, I don't end up laughing at all...I just feel this strange sense of suspended mirth.
Good one for CZ, but it's not DAO. Does CZ have any DAO guns without an external safety?
Still not sure. I guess I might have to guess again. Not a big CZ guy, so I'll have to due some internet searching to be an expert on that!An HK USP with deleted safety would fit this contract nicely... but if you think HK is going to divulge all their prints and manufcturing tech to Colt Canada, you're on glue.
This contract is horrendously poorly written, and it wouldn't surprise me to see no serious bids.
F*cking government idiots.

Oh, and this contract is f**king retarded. Work it out and get a G17, M&P9, USP or P30 and be done with it.
M9 out by weight, DA/SA, adjustable Grip size etc.
Same for Sig.
P30L fits perfect except for lack of Nato country adoption
Definite glue huffery going on at the contract writing phase.
Produced in Canada...that is f**king brain dead.
Yep.
Yep again. F*cking braindead is right. Produced in Canada, by ANOTHER MANUFACTURER WHO IS A DIRECT COMPETITOR IN YOUR INDUSTRY.
It's not like "specs will be forwarded to Weyerhauser who will saw a wood block into the shape of your pistol." It's "specs will be forwarded to someone who has been your competitor for decades and will no doubt use your engineering specs to attempt the creation of a competitive product."
F*cking bat-sh*t insane.
