New Chiappa Rhino 60DS 6" Target FIRES 357mag/38sp/9mm! -Trigger Fixed? ** w/ Pix

I am purchasing this White Rhino pistol in hard chrome with the hope that the new 2013 target model has the bugs worked out, or I'll upgrade to the stage 2 trigger kit as it seems to have worked for some of the past models. I contacted Chiappa to see if they have addressed this in the newest model, and have not heard back yet. If anyone is interested should they reply I can post it here. I am wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge on this as I cannot seem to find any info on the new target model as far as improvement in the trigger over previous releases.

Being a sucker for the odd ball stuff, this revolver really turns my crank! Love the look, and comes stock with integrated scope rail ( great for Aimpoint micro ), as well as pic rail, and even fiber optic sights. Being that they handle so smoothly due to the lower barrel design a la MATEBA pistol, I could not let this one slip by I don't think there is a single unit in the country at this point. I found an ad on Gunbroker in the US and Prophet River is taking care of the rest. I should have it in 6-8 weeks. I cannot believe how great and how swift their customer service was on this having never dealt with them before. Really top notch staff over there.

Anyway, have a look at this beast, it's a love it or hate it revolver but this was a must have for my taste. if I can get a smooth reliable trigger out of mine, I will be one happy camper.

Almost forgot! Perhaps the coolest feature of this new model pistol and there are many, is that IT FIRES 357 mag, 38 sp, AND ALSO 9mm!! It achieves this by way of moonclips for each caliber, so with this added versatility I think it's well worth the price.

I've been shooting my friends which is the same model as yours. Basically in short form it's amazing in every aspect, it looks amazing, shoots amazing and is a different as you can get. You got yourself a beautiful gun have fun.

Cheers,
Evan

Right on I have heard all it takes is to shoot one and your spoiled for anything else. We shall see. So I take it your friend did not have any trigger issues..... Any chance you know the year of manufacture? Really hoping I get a good one and the 2013 trigger are all fixed up. Thanks for posting.

Yah I have not heard of this trigger issue I'll have to reasurch ot more, and there doesn't seem to be an issue with his. I don't the exact date of manu but he got it shipped in this year so ill assume its a 2012.

I realy like the DA trigger, its tight but real smooth. Compared to my 686's DA which has a more gear like feel the Rhino's is a dream. There isn't a huge difference between the SA they are both amazing, real light and crisp.

Some of the early production runs had issues with switching over from SA to DA or gritty DA but it's starting to sound like they have fixed this. Most of these were 2011 releases so I am hoping Chiappa sends a positive update.

When I found mine it was being auctioned by a US retailer which had 2 in stock. Prophet River bought them both! I don't know what plans they have for the second, however if anyone is looking for the new 6" target model as pictured above I can say that there is at least a second coming to Canada and Prophet River will be getting it. Be sure and tell them Wildernessguy sent you, maybe I can talk them into a free shirt!

My buddy ordered his 60ds begining of last week, not sure what colour combo he got but i cant wait till it shows up and i get to handle & shoot it! I know what you mean by oddball stuff, im the same way, if its weird, rare or unique im all ears!

That's great, although I'll be the guy at the range saying "back off get your own sandwich!". :) Kidding.... When I take it out to the Selkirk gun range anyone interested in testing it out is welcome to have at it.

Wow I didnt even read that part, this tjing can shoot 9mm from the same cylinder as the .38/.357 one?

Yes sir, comes with 3 moonclips to get you started, one in each caliber. Covers quite the range of super cheap 38sp for your mac and cheese budget, to affordable 9mm and for the odd "treat yourself to some umf", you can run the odd box of 357mag. Cool combo of calibers if you ask me. I'm not sure whether past models can do this or not, only that the new release 60DS does.

Sweet revolver dude. I'd say you got lucky finding a 6" hard chrome model, all I've seen in across Canada are ones in black.
I'll have to keep checking in on Prophet every few days now. ;)

Thanks if your serious about getting this one in hard chrome I would get a hold of Prophet River asap and see what they are doing with the second unit they bought. I doubt they will list it before it arrives which will be 4-8 weeks ( I said 6-8 weeks previous as I'm making payments on mine over 6 weeks ). And this thread lets the cat out of the bag regarding a second white 6" Rhino. It's the hard chrome white Rhino that is as rare in Canada as it's wild counterpart. Good luck!

VERY cool gun!!!

The only "con" I have really heard about this gun is that it is way, wayyy complex...as if something was to happen/break you pretty much need to send it in for repairs, not an easy (at all) self fix.

I thought the silver ones were painted and not chromed? So do you need to use clips for all rounds or just for 9mm?

Edit
Electro less nickel according to their web site.
Only lists .357mag?
