QZ191 - Interesting bastardized short stroke push rod system with an AR style in-stock buffer tube system.

Very weird rear take down pin location for the upper to mate with the lower, resulting in a "bump" at the rear end that create an optic mounting lightmare, chin wield issue and being un-usable with short eye relief optics. This looks what people designed in the 70's and the 80's because they need to have rear iron site, but the CHinese doesn't even have rear iron sight on this rifle. People who designed this thing are not shooters or soldiers. They are obsessed with a right hand under charging handle, that makes thing more complicated than it needs to be. My feeling is that they are doing something mechanically different just because it needs to be different.

Think they learnt something about basic small arms ergonomics 25 years after pushing the QZ95 out too early......

Looks like they're trying to make it look kinda like an AR-15 without actually making an AR-15 to preserve national pride. Looks like it has an extremely high sight line to bore axis. No good cheek weld here.

Don't see anyone in the west ripping off their design

Appears to have like a 12" barrel, though it wouldn't be hard to extend a barrel in this style of operation.

Looks like something that would've been unveiled in the 00's to replace the M16. Would be interesting to shoot one, given the similar looking manual of arms to Swiss Arms rifles.

Interesting. I never designed a firearm before, but it looks like the team was given the following.

1. Compatible with the rocker style magazine (I'm assuming they're never trained for push button)
2. Ambi thumb safety/selector
3. Optic and accessories ready (upper rail and hand guard rail mounts)
4. Easy field disassembly (Take down pin)
5. Piston driven (For reliability? I don't think they ever had DI)
6. Cheap (Fixed stock, polymer hand-guard, right side charging) - Might even have an integrated buffertube/stock?

Assuming that's a bolt drop just above the mag release, I don't think the charging handle was intended be used very often. Even the way it's sized, it look like it's only 0.75" away from the receiver.

Thanks for sharing OP.

I like it...does the stock extend and is this in 7.62x39?(the mag pictured has that curve needed for the 7.62x39 round)

Offset is no worse than an AR.

It looks like the bump is indeed a flip up iron sight.

The video shows the development facility of 208 - that 200m indoor range is impressive as well as their environmental chamber.

Interesting enough, near the end , the video shows an "amazon" like warehouse fulfilling that fills barrack boxes - I guess even the PLA is sick of dealing with the clothing store people and wanting to replace them with robots. LOL
