new colt python YIKES

curious as to how many of the "bad" ones are owned by owners of the original. you know, trying to keep their old ones more valuable. and yes, I have trust issues.

I was thinking the same thing, lots of bitter people out there that paid big $$$ for an original and don't want to lose.
I had a few originals , luck was on my side though, sold them while prices were still high.
In the states the prices have already started started to fall pretty dramatically, its being talked about on some of the forums. People are seeing originals sell much lower

This is mysterious issue because Colt produced it's new Cobra a few short years ago. Hence sixgun knowledge regards cylinder & timing should be a non issue issue.

Perhaps these newest Pythons were outsourced???

Brazil or Philippines maybe.....

I mean who produces a brand new Colt Python with sub standard work and sub standard QA ?

Edit: Answer; a third world nation

well , you got me thinking. so I did some research and found lots of info that says colt Layed off 1/2 its employees and "outsourced parts to save money'

found this article on the "fire arms blog .com page. " Unions Sue Colt for Outsourcing Manufacturing."

then while reading I found several comments like this- "The new Cobra is heavily MIM-ed, and EVERY SINGLE PART OF IT IS OUTSOURCED.
Colt manufactures NOTHING in it or on it."

Seems like there is something defiantly going on with Colt. dont know if the comments are true, but the "outsourcing is"

Very interesting information.
The total lack of a cylinder stop on the left hand side of frame, immediately I think Taurus.

from what I read,,,I think Colt is in serious trouble. Is it the management ? poor economy ? lost contracts or all.

I feel for any company trying to make it in these hard economic times. Lots of jobs and money at stake.

I also think Colt was trying to save it self by manufacturing these 2 Iconic pistols .....but went about it the wrong way.

The more you read about the company and serious whoa's its facing , it makes it clear as to what happend.

it would be interesting to hear from the folks that actually own a new one.
one thing about todays internet, take it all with a grain of salt.
the old pythons weren't perfect, but the way everyone holds them up, you would think they were. but the internet wasn't a thought in the good ol'days.
grain of salt folks.

to ad. if you want perfection, buy a glock :stirthepot2:

:)

They forsaken AR sales for many years to private citizens and only concentrated on government/military sales. Dropped Python, Concealed Carry Magnum and Anaconda just when market demand truly desired private sales.
For a long time the only revolver they produced was the 1873 SAA. They attempted to boost profits aligning themselves with a small manufacturer of gatling guns.
These were never cheap, poor financial decision.
Sometime in the 1990s thier CEO went in front of cameras saying they will never sell or make revolvers ever again. And they will never sell AR rifles and carbines to private citizens. This is why Olympic and Bushmaster first got into AR sales and now with a host of other brand name ARs.
They got greedy and stupid with Afghanistan-Iraq 2.
O military customers and burned thier domestic AR market. They have had a rough road union and management, these details I don't know other than they were seriously bad outcomes.

I might be rough on some details but what I say here is mostly true.

Golden Webb is a complete moron. I took the time to watch his video on both the gun, and his reply from Colt. "Entitled" is the word that immediately comes to mind.

Agreed. He posted about a dozen videos of the same complaint after refusing to send his gun back to Colt for service.
It's just clickbait for his YouTube channel. FWIW he's also posted a few videos about having issues with the new Glock 44.

Over the past 40 years Colt has suffered from successive rounds of bad management and predatory ownership that that was more interested in looting cash than actually running the company long term. They are several bankruptcies and near bankruptcies away from the company they once were.

No eye pro when shooting a 357 magnum is inexcusably stupid. Pulling a trigger when you have no idea where the muzzle is pointed is even worse.

Then he posts a video complaining that if he sends it to Colt fo fix it (they offered to pay for shipping) then it'll be a whole week or two. How dare they, right? and if Colt gives him a new gun that works properly it won't have a low serial number. I know everyone is pretending that the old Pythons ran like swiss watches (which actually don't run very well) but are we also pretending that brand new guns don't normally have issues in their first production runs?

That's my opinion of the whole situation. Watching people throw tantrums wears on me pretty quickly though.

Hickok 45 wasn’t throwing a tantrum and I take his word as gospel. He knows how to run guns and has held more than I’ve ever heard of. Colt has a big problem and this may put them out of business for good. I don’t want to see them go under as I’d like a new python. But I don’t want to pay $2200 plus tax on a piece of crap.

I agree. Hickock 45 is a national treasure, but that wasn't his gun and is obviously very early in the production run. People seem to forget Gen 5 Glocks with triggers that didn't return right out of the box, or Gen 4's and their classic brass to face. As of right now, it appears Colt is planning to make things right. People should give them the chance to.

Dunno - I plan to pick one up despite the teething issues. I've always wanted a python (and an Anaconda) to go with my Smith's. It's still gorgeous and I can't imagine the problems are as wide spread as the internet hysteria makes them out to be. I handled a KC recently and the fit and finish are great, trigger was excellent too. If there is an issue I think bullseye will make it right. My only beef is that I wish it came in blue.
