new colt python YIKES

I never understood the appeal of the Pythons, for a .357 I like the Smith 27. Maybe its like a Ford vs Chevy thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Colt fan. But my revolver experiences have always steered me to the Smith over the Colt.

I would take a 586 over a Python any day of the week.

when i was a kid that was the first revolver i shot and i liked it but no way to pay the premium of the previous version and with issues of the new ones it is not happening and ruger gp100 are maybe a tank for some but a working tool.

Three Smith's two Colts one Dan Wesson.
Not a single Python though. I am a shooter so I bought a Colt Model 3-5-7.
All the important attributes of a DA Colt but without the added expense of a Python.
This is my 50 yard target revolver with 38 SPL.

I have really wanted a Python for several years now. When I seen the New Pythons release I was extremely excited. Especially being built by Colt, A trusted company. I am in no way bashing them,...rather I am so let down..I cant believe it. I'm not a rich fellow and have to pre- plan bigger purchases.
I love shooting , and I shoot a lot. I was going to buy it to be a shooter, all day every day . I dont feel this is the Gun for that.
I have friends that do own the GP 100, and its Overbuilt .You could hammer hot rounds till dawn and not hurt it.
Its not a Python though. The Gp 100 was my second choice,...now its my 1st choice.
I am sad and frustrated and just want to YELL at Colt .

Save your pennies and buy a Manurhin MR-73 ................ GP100 stength (and more) with exquisite quality, fit and finish. :d

I had an original Colt Python and I had problems with light strikes and just adjusted the hammer spring tension and the problem was solved. Cylinder not spinning was never a problem but in the end I sold it for a good buck as I enjoyed my 686 better. I also have a Ruger security 6 and that is one beefy pistol but still enjoy the 686 more.

I've seen the new Colt King Cobra's and the quality of manufacturing was a bit disappointing. The fit and finish of a Ruger GP100 or S&W 686 is way better but for a fraction of the price. I would put its quality on par with a Alpha Proj Revolvers. Its redeeming factor is its trigger. Its pretty good both single action and double action with the double action pull being very nice.

The new Python is fabulous!

Had my hands on a couple of the 4.25" & 6" revolvers with nary a glitch at the Colt display. Colts new King Cobra & Python stood up to the test at the 2020 Shot Show. They are incredible new revolvers.

I doubt that they are that naïve that they would take an untested Antoon firearm to shot show. They would be the best that they can tune the run-of-the-mill stuff as was hitting the market right now.

I even polished my GP100 to look like Nickel...
Still waiting for Colt to remember how to make a revolver.
In the meantime, my GP100 has been flawless for thousands of rounds.

Sadly, it seems Colt is counting on us just wanting to own shiny things.
Sadder still; If they fix it, I'll still probably buy that pretty, stupid, over priced shiny thing.

So they had some initial teething problems... I will definitely buy one once they resolve whatever issues they are having and price comes down a wee bit.

Still the best looking revolver !!

Very happy they went with wood grips.
My favorite combo, wood and stainless

Haha. That’s the best. I will buy one on the EE when someone’s doesn’t work for less then take it apart and fix it like Hicock45 did.

Not from videos I’ve seen. They had failures at Shot Show. I’ve cancelled my order for now. Will see how this plays out.
