I shot it running with my last shot? When I went to put another shot in to kill him, the extra 243's I had in my pocket (over 10 of them ) must of fell out while I was pulling my mits out of my pocket? I was a bit apprehensive showing these pictures but if you have shot enough game in the field things sometimes do not go as planned? Sorry if this picture offended you?

Ehhh, while hunting predators isn't my thing, congrats on your kills!

I knotice a lot of center of mass shots (moreso in other threads than this one) but is it common to just put it down rather than take a head or heart shot? I'm thinking from both a humane and pelt perspective, as winter means they've got some beautiful pelts on them.

Personally, they're too much like dogs for me to hunt, but I would definitely pay money for the raw skins rather than let them go to waste.

Anyone in the Lower mainland area yote hunt that would be willing to skin their kills before dumping them? I'd even take heads on to save the effort of skinning out the face, don't really care, just hate seeing it go to waste.

Thanks for the explanation Tracker. And the tone of your reply makes me believe that you truly are an ethical hunter (I was expecting the typical "its just a coyote, mind your own business).

The pictures do look REAL bad on the hunting community though. I won't dare ask how you finished it off.

Ya sh*t happens....lesson learned.:)

Yes thanks for clearing that up Tracker. We have all seen wounded animals and know to put them down as quick as we can.

Quick question. I'm looking to get into coyote shooting but what do you do with the kill. I'm in Alberta and I'm pretty sure its legal to leave it but can you get money for the pelt?

I do not hunt alone, I push yotes same as you would have a dog run yotes except I am slower, when I push yotes I carry a 2 way radio ( let me guess this will offend someone else) I only carry about 12 shells, 4 go into the rifle and rest in my pocket, I try to carry a camera (maybe a big mistake), I may walk 5 to 8 concessions in a day if I can last, some days we have younger legs that come along to share the dogging. Sometimes I do catch up to a pushed yote and over the 25-30 years I have and I have shot a few that way but most of the time I could and I do push yotes with a stick. All I had to do is walk back to my truck for more shells or in this case the 12 gauge? Yes he was shot in the head with a 12 gauge and it was a very fast kill, sorry Beefman but if you are a hunter killing is part of the hunt same as death is part or life. When some of you young boys grow up to be as old as I am and spend every day I can hunting which is 7 days a week in the right season you will understand? But before you do that you have to get away from your mothers apron. Please pay extra attention to those Wild TV and Canada in the Rough hunts and make sure you voice your concerns about the geese flopping around on the ground etc etc? Do I need to explain some more???????????????????????????????/

As you say tracker, some times things just don't go as planned... No need to apologize. I've killed plenty of animals with a hatchet when they have been caught in a trap. I've also wounded animals and had to chase them down to finish the job. Not pretty, but part of nature & the life and death struggle we all face every day.

Cheers
Jay
P.S. Keep the pics coming, great stuff!

Just to set the record straight, if you have read my other posts in this forum...you know I'm a die-hard hunter, and have not problem with killing at all.

And your story makes perfect sense, now that you have clarified it.

Death is definitely part of life, I see alot more of it than most, with 20 years on the farm.

Now get out there and whack some more yotes. :D (already lost 1 calf this year)
