New Coyote And Fox Thread (post Your Picks)

I Hunt them all kinds of ways best results over bait of course.
I've used mouthblown calls to limited success.
Learn to shoot them from a distance. 15 years ago we were heavy into hounds that was a blast. Looks like a Dog Box in the back of your truck!!

Great pictures.

I like how this post shows how different coyotes are from the west to the east.

Seems the eastern dogs have at least 10-15 lbs on the Alberta dogs and are all darker.
 
we hit one on the weekend as well bad with mange. other than what it does to there furr i dont know to much about it. does it make the coyote feel ill n stuff ?

what kind of method were u using to hunt? groop bush pushing?
 
Congrat's!! That's a nice shot!!

What bullet weight? I shoot a 223 aswell, don't reload but the Hornady 40gr V max and the 50gr Winchester BT shoot great at 200yrds, with the 40gr being a bit better.

187, if you do not already have somewhere to take them, then do not hunt the crown land. As for where to take them (if you are not willing / set up to do it yourself) I have no idea in Calgary. Ask around at AAA trapping supplies (or something like that), try the net or the yellow pages.
 
as long as u don't destroy the hides you might be able to find a trapper who will take them off u as well. just give him the respect and drive to his place at least. If you guys near calgary got the warm few days than the cold snap we got now its perfect for the furr. makes it so it dont shed so easy.
 
Here's a Nova Scotian 'yote for you. I just picked up a Vintage Savage 340 in .222 Rem. for my son Thursday. Sighted the little tack driver in yesterday morning and took my boys out 'yote hunting after school yesterday. He bagged this female on the run, across a small field at 70 yards. 50 grain PSP Winchester Super X factory load. I called 2 in, one staying just out of my sight behind me and this one ran towards me and the call and crossed where he was watching 200 yards away from me. It was his first shot at one and he did a great job! Dropped it with one shot on the run. I am sure I couldn't have done any better, if as good! No substitute for perfect eyesight and young fast reflexes! He was sure a happy lad!
