New daily driver from Shot Show

Just what Canadian police need, in a country where being a tow truck driver is more dangerous. May as well keep the one incapable of college/university safe. LoL

Budget justification

Your right, its a way to keep stealing more money from the taxpayers. Our police dept has a Camaro or two in its fleet, and a helicopter that is used mainly to wake people up at night .

But, I need muh toys...

The CBSA and RCMP budgets are in desperate need of slashing 90%. No idea why the government doesn't catch on, this is a simple easy way to cut taxes and everyone's happy. Nobody would even notice, win win!!

Because the everyday cop car is not bullet proof.

Do you want dead cops and civilians while some crazed person with a rifle runs a muck or one dead bad guy?

Give your head a shake.

Same old argument. So they should have those “just in case” and we are not allowed to own firearms for self protection “just in case”. Not??

I get to haul them to armed stand-offs sometimes. Makes for an interesting day. 2018-01-24 06.58.30.jpg

Because that is such a common occurrence. Maybe instead they should be running around with tanks you know just in case the crazed person decided to target cops with an IED. There is a difference in being proactive and being schmoozed by the industry to buy the latest toy. Not saying the big cities (like 2mill+ in population) don't need it and probably have the budget for it but the podunk smaller cities can't truly justify it.

When has that ever happened, I dont recall any shootouts where these vehicles are required, or would have made a difference in a city.

Armed standoffs happen frequently. Don't you think our LEOs should have the best protection they can? The intimidation factor alone results in a safe end to lots of these type of situations.

Either a Bearcat or Grizzly was used to drive through the front of the house where Cst. Woodall was shot in order to retrieve him from the front entrance of the ongoing shooting. At the time it was unknown if he was deceased or injured and the person inside the house kept firing rounds pinning down the Police officers outside. They are also used to provide cover for ERT officers or to advance their position when the event is already occurring. They are used to hold additional tools (picks, rams, arwins) needed by ERT teams. They are a combination of an armored rescue vehicle, building breaching vehicle, people / equipment transport vehicle when the sh*t is really happening. While I'll never need one, I'm glad it's available to the people who do.

For the extremely rare occurrences where it may be beneficial, the cost doesn't warrant the expense for all these toys. They can plan a different strategy. Plus most of these situations would be long over by the time they arrived.
Why can't we be allowed to carry, and protect ourselves, are our lives so much less valuable.
