New forum idea

This is stupid guys.

Last thing we need is a Savage VS Remington thread again and Rman's vendetta against Jerry is tiring.
Jerry has proved himself to many of us over and over and was instrumental to getting me into the sport. Once I had the money I built on a Remmy action and it shoot very, very well. Better than me, but if someone likes Savage better than Remington who cares.
Rman, I am sorry, but you are coming across as an arogant jerk, even if you don't think so. I can tell you what Jerry's "agenda" is right now. To get more people shooting. Pretty hard to encourage them when you come at them saying don't bother unless you are prepared to drop $6k on a rig that will take 12 months to put together. A little easier if you can get in for easier under 2k. A savage with a match barrel will shoot better than most people can.

Jerry has shown over and over that he can make these guns shoot well enough or better than we want and its great for a new comer. Your accusations of spreading "misinformation" is unfounded as Jerry has even posted videos showing these guns do what he says.

On the minus side the forum does fill with a lot of "budget precision" and the true precision rifle talk gets buried.

Anyways, Jerry can stick up for himself, but I needed to squeek up as this thread is getting closed anytime now and mods are going to hand out some warnings soon I am sure.

First off, I never started a Remington vs Savage anything. Second, it's not so much that I have a vendetta against Jerry, it's more of Jerry's agenda narrowing his view and the scope of his "advice".
If calling like it is makes me arrogant, than so be it, but that is not what I am trying to acomplish. I have never come at anyone and said its going to take X amount of dollars to do anything. What I have said, over and over, is that if a person only has X amount of money to spend, they can go and shoot just fine. But don't suggest that a $500 something will perform better than a $5000 something because it costs $500. It just doesn't work that way.
"Jerry has shown over and over that he can make these guns shoot well enough or better than we want and its great for a new comer. Your accusations of spreading "misinformation" is unfounded as Jerry has even posted videos showing these guns do what he says."
That is the whole premise of Jerry's buissines. That is why he advises what he does. And I'm the one that is biased?

I was wonder wher the cut off would be for a sub catagory? I have a .308 rifle that was purchased to go target shooting(plinking) and deer hunting. I have shot as a best- .32moa at 300 yards and .5 moa at 500 yards. Just changed to a 20moa base and better rings(US Optics) to try for longer distances.

I would perfer one forum as I have learned a lot from several different posters here. I have learned more in the hunters forum too and dont want to miss out on all the comments from anyone with experience. If you specialize too much it might mean missing out on some good ideas. Maybe a few stickied threads at the top of the forum that are well structured might prevent some of the frustrations as of late.

Thanks for the car comment but I bought it because it had a nice colored interior:eek: Joking :D

It sounds like you are well on your way. What rilfe is it? What have you done to it? Very funny about the car!

I couldn't agree more....Whenever I have needed something or some good advice, Jerry has been there for me.
I'm proud to say we have been friends for many years and as far as I'm concerned you couldn't meet a finer guy !
I know a great many of us have benefitted from his knowledge and hospitality.
Didn't mean to hi-jack this thread, seems like thats already happened.....

I have a factory Savage Precision Cabine in 308 with a 20" barrel. Accustock and trigger(untouched) and a Farrell 20moa base(thanks Jerry!) Was going to get XTR rings too but Jerry was backordered and the EE was in full swing with a set of US Optics rings;) The groups listed were with Leupold STD rings and two pc bases.

No work done at all and using factory FGMM 168gr ammo. One day I will get into a match grade barrel with reloads but that will be a different Savage(12Fvss .223). I think I am getting good value for the $$$ and am wondering what the cut off is for precision? At what moa do I have to shoot? Sub-.1,.2,.3,.4? Forget cost just at what moa is it a precision rig versus a target rifle?

If you would quote the whole sentence,, he is not saying that,,, you Chihuahua,,, now you are going to give advice, after being here 2 months and was going to use a HR for build LOL
I have a question,, I want to build a Sniper/Long Range rifle, with your vast wealth of knowledge can you give some advice???

:bsFlag::feedTroll:

I don't think there is a cut off for precision, and I don't know what MOA you have to shoot to make it a whatever rig. Target rifles by definition have different stocks and heavier barrel profiles, depending on which class there are in. With you, and the rilfe shooting that well, there really isn't that much to fix. As you start shooting farther distances, you may want to look at handloading sooner, and perhaps move to some heavier bullets.

One recent addition (2 months, 300 posts) had begun with posts that revealed his obvious new-to-shooting-period status, and now he is dishing out commentary and advice on topics of which he clearly has no knowledge.

I think I have gone out of my way to help promote precision shooting.

hey Obtunded...y do you think that you are a God of precision shooting...i have news for you...i have a God and he is is the only one i believe there is and will ever be, and thats not you...and i offer my opinion basically never and am being called out just because you arent man enough to accept that there may be someone who knows more than you...that would be my Grampa btw! and promoting precision shooting you are not...you turned me away from it and i am the future of the sport...you killed it...nothing more nothing less

I know the 168gr wont get me the range I want but thats for a different thread(will go 175gr to a 1000). I am interested in what would be the division point for the new sub-forum as viewed by the precision crowd.

I have learned a huge amount from Jerry's threads with the re-worked Savages and they are within the reach of my budget right now:cool:. Got to play with a PGW rifle as well and that will be another drain on the budget soon too:D Just really wanted to get a feel for where the cut off is? Will anything that is still capable of being carried into the woods be considered a Precision rifle? Or will that forum be strictly competition rifles. I am too new to all of that:redface: I am going to the range and will just enjoy putting holes in the paper this weekend.:D Hope we still have one forum and no sub-forums!

I'm not the one leading the charge for any sub-forum, so I really don't know. I carry some pretty heavy rifles into to woods, so I would say yes, but that has more to do with you shoulder and back than it does with your rifle. Enjoy your time at the range!

Thank-you,, I can sleep better now,, your out of the sport.

The only man in this forum that may ever get my money is Jerry...he is helpful, kind and patient...meaning he dosn't freak out at you because of something you don't know...my Grampa has taught me quite a few things about the shooting sports and has shot better groups at 1000 with a factory sporter than I think a lot of people could with the best 17million$ gun out there. Price means nothing...it is only the person behind the gun. And by the way noneck...a lot of people are out of the sport because of you and Ian personally.
