I was in my LGS yesterday, and noticed they had one of the new Glock 19's. Naturally, I was curious - it's been a long time since I had a 19, so I had to look. You know how that goes - I got the TAN today. One of the nice things I noticed about these guns is the supressor sights - I don't know who made them, but they're all steel and a country mile ahead of stock Glock sights. Other than that, the gun feels as good as my last 19, but I have an odd question - the thread protector is plastic, does anyone think it would be totally off colour to paint it bright orange. I just had to ask.

Your possession...your wish prevails!!!

It appears you wish to make your G19 appear more like a toy pistol found in store toy sections. I cannot see any other reason to make such a desicion. There may not be a law that says you cannot do this but can you imagine what a prosecutor would say in the event there was ever an accident or incident where a child or other person injured or killed with this pistol?

Criminals have been know to make this alterration to potentially make a police officer hesitate for just a moment when they see that orange tip pointing at them. We always think accidents could never happen to us but we know it does happen from time to time. Having this alteration would only call into question your ability to make reasonable decisions. Again I cannot see anything but potential trouble associated to painting that thread protector orange.

Boy, I can remember when people would have laughed at a little plastic pistol with an orange plastic doo hickey on the end of the barrel. It's a shame what the anti-gun people have done to us as a community. At least Nestor gets it. Don't sweat it doom and gloomers, it'll be getting a proper threaded steel protector.

NAA.

I like irritating people so I would do it.
Also I have had opportunities to shoot recreationally with police officers and anything I can do to make
them more aware of a potential danger is a wonderful thing

I think it's a hilarious idea... Considering the firearm is restricted, how could it possibly be problematic if all rules are followed?

I just bought a Gen3 19 with threaded barrel, the plastic thread protector was a joke so I replaced it with a steel one off Ebay. It looks way better and its actually threaded with an O-ring in the end so it stays on. The plastic one wasnt even threaded, it was just a piece of plastic that the treads on the barrel dug into, no actual threads on the inside...Looks way better now

I dont know about orange, even my airsoft gun doesnt have that....Would make it look like something sold at the dollar store.

The sights on the other hand are a big step up from the Glock sights that came on my 17...Those also had to go ASAP, but I think I will stick with the metal sights on the 19 for a while...I just wish the dot on the front wasnt yellow, might paint it with a dab of white

Gen 3 or 4? I have never seen a Tan one with supressor sights and threaded barrel
