New Gevarm E1's.....

I seem to be lucking out with my E2. Cleaned the barrel with Break-Free and a copper brush, and I can see a bit of a shine to it. Still haven't had a chance to fire it yet......

And now that I have it, I'm thinking hm... i'm really more of a pistol shooter.... what am i going to do with this thing?

I would like to thank the gunnut for returning his Gevarm.
I purchased it.

Although not as "perfect" as my first one :p, for $329... I would have paid $400 for it. While the bore is not immaculate, I would in no way class the bore as "pitted". A copper brush with some Hoppes #9 will greatly improve it.

I have instructed Anthony at Tradex to inform me of any more returns and if the are in the same condition. I have authorized him to do the transfer and bill my Visa card sight unseen

I think the majority of you guys do not realize just what a Gevarm is. To find a "new" (old stock) Gevarm in 2011 is unthinkable.

Do research, USED Gevarms have regularly gone for $450-$550 USED!

This little gem fires from an OPEN bolt, which is why it was prohibed in the States.

Anybody else wanna sell me theirs? :D

WELL, I STILL HAVE 6 OF THEM FOR SALE.

Yes GRIF, as you see, some guys are very FUSSY.

My asking price is $435.00 each, not cheap, but I know it's will be NO MORE

I guess I'm fussy because I expect a new(old stock) gun to function out of the box and for the sights to be useable....

You can have mine Griff I will let Anthony know when I call him tomorrow.....

PS. which option did you go for in the end to regulate your rear sight?

I have yet to return to the range, but the easiest solution is going to be to file down the rear sight notch. I have a small flat edged swiss file that just fits the groove perfectly.

I will adjust for bullseye @ 50 yds on the lowest elevation. The rifle should then be dead on in 50 yd increments.

Besides, like I said, I can't see squat past 50yds unless it is the size of a barn.

my mags fit 26 rounds, not the 20 as advertised. im so pissed off, why cant i get something as described for once?;) my thumbs are a bit sore just after 3 loadings... it helps to pull the follower down through the two windows

seriously though...:50cal: mine from wemajack are pretty nice, not a ding on the stock, i dont think the bolt has been cycled once, one little dusting of rust under the forstock. and on the bottom of a magazine.
id say they are a 9/10 compaired to new! the bore does look a little rough on the grooves, but its not looking like thats from rust, just rough machining.

The E2 has a different finish (greyish) on the receiver than the E1... will it be more chip resistant than the black E1 finish? It appears to be thicker and smoother than the E1 finish.

Your welcome. With the not new bores and the fussiness of mags and the less than ideal accuracy and the...... you can have them. Seriously I am glad that you can enjoy them. For me they are not worth the couple hundred dollars more that they might or might not be worth in the future.

...when I lifted the sight to slide the ladder out the sight broke off!CD

i got home after test firing mine today, and the rear sight had broken off while it was in the gun case
I had adjusted mine down to the lowest setting but didnt stress the sight at all.

others be warned, if your going to adjust your rear sight, be sure to loosen the hold down screw!
or perhaps it got banged at some point prior to my recieving it.

Fixit, was yours shooting way high too?
Sorry to hear about your rear sight.... They are fragile for sure! Was yours still on the elevator but on the lowest setting or did you remove the elevator?
How did your gun run?

mine shot dead on at the lowest setting on the elevator.

i think i can get a replacement genaric one from brownelles, or someone similar

i didnt do any target shooting, just chased the can around on the ground, also tried a few shorts, they fed fine but wouldnt lock the action back.

i found the magazine a bit finicky, a bit of backwards pressure helped them feed nicely. next time im going to try some RN instead of the HP, i think they will feed better

so what aftermarket mags are working the best?

I was thinking of buying a bulk amount of them, and then selling them.

hopefully so there's less shipping costs from the states than each of us making a small order

Easy takedown, easy field stripping of breech block, decent accuracy,20 round magazine,8 rd magazines,.....and if a round of 22 LR doesnt fire in a Gevarm open bolt it has no priming compound in it from factory.

Compared to what else is selling in semi auto 22's these days I'll take another Gevarm every time.

Like I said - glad you can enjoy them. Just sayin that after seeing what all the fuss was about they are not my cup of tea.

I cleaned up an older e1 for a friend. Unable to confirm age but was definitly older. Had no issues other than it shot very high, probably on the order of 5-6" high at 50yds. I also had one head of a 22 blow off upon firing. left the body of the brass stuck in the chamber and most off the gas came out the ejection port, so was very loud. That was with winchester bulk ammo.

I wish he would have sold it to me, but at least I got to play around a bit with it.

Wish I could afford one of these, but not right now.

enjoy your gevarm or sell it to me for dirt cheap :) just kidding. my 2 cents

Just as a point of interest. The pic posted by cantom of the 4 Gevarm rifles offered in North America (has a NoDak emblem on it). That is a picture I made up (from the old Gevarm pamphlet nnwt posted a link to), which, after some work, I posted on NoDak.

I envy you guys having an opportunity to buy those "old stock" guns. Down here they ALL seem to sell for $500 - or thereabouts - regardless of condition.

In the last 90 days I've sold at online auction two original, like new, 20-rd mags down here for $240 each. Same buyer won both! So you guys who got one with your E2 (threaded muzzle) consider yourselves ahead of the game.

I've owned a dozen E1s (no E2s or shorts) over the years. While living in BC for 18 years 4 decades ago. I was buying and selling used guns from our little mom and pop grocery up on Vancouver Island. Last one I bought, and still have, I paid $25 for.

As nntw pointed out, I've NEVER had any kind of feeding issue with any Gevarm. Of the 4 models imported to North America, the only one I don't have is the A6 so can't speak on it. The ones I've got are GREAT examples of excellence in firearms!

Found the hold down screw impossible to loosen- will put some more penetrating oil on it and try again.

Finally took my E2 out to the range yesterday (Jan 31st).

Used some Eley Sport (std velocity?) and found it had no trouble cycling. Magazine was a b1tch to get to release, though.

So, my few offhand shots seemed reasonably accurate, nothing broke off (thanks for the warning, Fixit), and I got a few oohs and ahhhs from people who saw the rifle.

So, all considered, so far it's been a pretty good experience! I've been pretty lucky!
