New Glock 17 - clean or don't clean before shooting?

There could be a long debate for sure! I shot the 226, cz and 17 and liked the 17. It's all up to the individual. I like your idea of getting both haha.

When I became a glock armorer, the instructor told us that it is used for initial break in and not to clean it prior to first firing. I do recommend that you at lease run a bore snake through the barrel in case there is any crap in there from shipping.

I was told the same thing on my course.

When I get a new gun, I look down the barrel (if I don't forget) to make sure it's clear, load the mags, and start shooting.

I’ve never cleaned my G17, ever. Shoots better now then when I bought it.

Do whatever makes you feel good. It won't make a difference in the end.

Yeah, have owned several Glocks and didn't notice any difference in the ones I cleaned vs the ones I didn't.

I always run a bore snake before hitting the range.

I disassembled mine... inspected the barrel and internal parts and went to the range :)

Just clean the barrel. Shoot several hundred rnds till factory grease was gone; clean and relube.

That's exactly what I ended up doing and all is well. Thanks for the input everyone. Especially for the link to that glock cleaning vid on the previous page, lol ;)
