Hey guys,

I got a Glock 17 Gen 5 a couple of weeks ago, my first Glock.

Took it to the range and put 150 rounds through it, when I came home and cleaned it I noticed that the trigger pin was protruding on the left side.

I popped it back in (had to apply quite a lot of pressure with a punch) and centered it, figured it might have came like that.
Took it out to the range and put another 150 rounds through it again the next week. Came home and noticed the same thing, which frustrated me.

I watched some videos to understand how the single pin works. It has two grooves which catch on the slide stop when centered.
I popped the pin out (it is not loose in any way, I have to apply pressure with a punch to move it, and wobble the slidestop).

Made sure it was centered and that the groves are lined up properly.

Took it out to the range again and this time I watched the pin walk out to the left..:(

20 rounds and there is movement.
50 rounds and it protrudes from the gun.
100-150 rounds and it protrudes to the extend that I can basically grab it with my fingers.

I e-mailed Bullseye where I got it and they just told me to speak with the Canadian distributor.
Called today and they are to get back to me at some point.

Pretty frustrated, the gun is less than a month old with 450 rounds through it, having to deal with this crap is not what I expected when I got a Glock.

Extremely happy with the gun, but this issue is very annoying.

Has anyone dealt with something simliar?
Here are some pictures. This is after 50 rounds...any sugestion?

I've noticed this on a friend's Glock 17 Gen4 which has an extended slide stop.

Did you change out the slide stop before shooting it for the first time?

I'm not trying to blame you, but improper removal of the trigger pin (e.g. knocking it out with a hammer and punch) can damage the pin or the slide stop, causing the problem you described.

No, everything is stock out of the box.
I only took the slide off and made sure all was in order before shooting it the first time (and having the trigger pin walk out).

When it walked out all I did was push it back in, by applying pressure on it with a plastic punch (while jiggling the slidestop).
The second time I pushed it out all the way with the punch, and then put it back in again.

It did take some force, but no hammering or anything like that.

I just ordered a new slidestop and triggerpin.
It was like 15 bucks so I'll live, and it would save me the headache of having the gun sent back and forth for weeks if not months.

I will see what the Glock guy says when they call tomorrow.

Oh bummer, I was going to tell you to contact James Cassells at Glock.

One of my Glocks came with the wrong length backstrip pin, and he took care of the issue right away, at no cost to me. It definitely wouldn't hurt to let him know of your problem..

you had a trigger pin that walked out, i had a round that won't come out. Ended up mag dump empty to show clear. So far not too impress with the new Gen5, my old gen 3 and 4 had better attention to detail. No sight all the way to the right, not random rear sight height.

Any update from glock?

Glock should fix this at no cost to you.

Glock has been completely useless.
That surprises me greatly, one main reason I bought my first Glock was their reputation for reliability and great customer service.
In the states they most certainly would have just replaced the gun right away if a brand new Glock displayed any issues. Especially a Gen5.

Here in Canada I was simply referred to Canpar (by Bullseye London) who handle Glock's warranty issues.
I called several times but nothing. Absolutely nothing. It's been over a month.

A lady answers the phone and promises time and time again that some guy dealing with warranty issues will get back to me the next day. They never do. I have given up. Clearly Canpar only prioritize law enforcement agencies who buy in bulk and completely ignore private customers.

I tried to get help from Bullseye, but they just tell me to call Canpar.

The gun shoots great but the pin is still walking out. I am quite annoyed having to deal with all this when buying a new Glock, having to try and solve the issue myself.

To make things worse I can't find a slide stop and trigger pin for the Gen5 in Canada, and no one will ship them from the US since they are "gun parts".
Bleh, thank you Glock.

Too bad, I love the gun and have put thousands of rounds through it.
Should have gotten a Gen4. Tried and tested and plenty of parts available in Canada. What was I thinking?

Do you mean "Rampart" rather than "Canpar"?

That would piss me off.

Plus side, it's a glock, parts are cheap and plentiful; and there's a loads of smiths familiar with em. Would be worse with a Sig, trust me.

It's not just glock, everything is rushed to market nowadays.

Best

I’ll trade you for a G19 Gen 4 :D

But seriously, I second contacting James Cassells at Glock, he had Rampart replace my broken frame and all the worn out parts under warranty, it broke because I shot it too much btw. Would’ve only been 6 weeks but the RCMP wouldn’t let me have a prohibited frame lol.

Hope it gets fixed one way or another, sucks to here about Gen 5 issues.
