So, took my new Glock to the range yesterday, and had about 7 light primer strikes out of about 70 rounds?

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

make sure to detail strip the slide, clean everything and leave it dry. they always put oil in there when shipping and this could be causing the striker to slow down when firing.

use qtips to clean the striker channel

This could be it you know, I stripped it cleaned her all up and re-oiled, maybe over oiled? Used the same technique as on my M&P which I had zero problems with in about 3000 rounds.

I'll remove the firing pin later and give that a good clean and see how we go!

I've removed the firing pin and noticed some unusual wear (you may need to zoom in), is this normal and could it be causing my light primer strikes?

Thanks.

unusual place to have a wear point. are u sure the channel is clean? looks almost like there was a brass shaving stuck in there and caused that. if it was me i would take some fine grit sand paper (1000 grit for example) and smooth up the metal.

if its still causing issues, i would maybe change out the firing pin channel liner and the striker assembly.

(as an fyi this technicly should be done by a certified armourer, but we all know we all work on our firearms ourselves :) )

Thanks for the reply, however as it's a new gun I'd rather send it off for warranty than try to repair it myself.

Anyone know the Canadian warranty centre for Glock?

I am 99% sure that Police Ordnance is the Glock Distributor for Canada. You should give them a call to see what they can do for you or contact the place you bought it from and see if they can send it off for a repair. The website for Police Ordnance is http://www.policeordnance.com

I hope your issue gets resolved soon! Cheers.

I have shot maybe 30 rounds with my new Glock 22 and the strikes are really hard and like the strike drags across the primer surface. I have no pictures, maybe could get some. The other guns I have it is a nice little dimple for a strike. My is way different than a dimple. What do they say, Glock Perfection?

P&D enterprises (where I purchased the gun) directed my issue to 'Korth Group' who sold these guns to P&D, the Glock certified armourer says 'absolutely the firing pin needs to be changed', however he doesn't believe this would cause the light primer strike...

He wants me to send the entire slide in so he can take a look, best thing is they are based 5 minutes from where I live!

The response from P&D and Korth group has been excellent.

They'll get it sorted out. Glocks are fairly simple - no "black magic" going on. There are very few problems with them in general, so when an issue comes up it's studied to death. Should get fixed very quickly.
