Hi,
I've been lurking since mid-winter reading all the threads, doing a ton of searches and educating myself as best as I could. Another hobby to take into retirement in a few years. Had long guns when I was younger, .22's, Remington 870 pump, Marlin 30-30. Sold them when kids arrived. Took the course in April, bolted a 200 lb safe to the basement floor in May, tried out handguns at a range to make sure, got my Rpal last week, joined a range the next day and bought a Sig 226 E2 in 9mm. Held and manipulated everything I could first. Kept coming back to the Sig. Fits my hand great and will fit my wifes as well. Will pick up a .22 later. Waiting for the ATT and safety course.
I have to thank all of the members here on this forum for being so patient and forthcoming with great info for us newbie's. If it wasn't for all the great advise dished out and discussed here I wouldn't feel as secure as I do about the decisions I've made.
Cheers and thanks again

Welcome to the forum. The Sig 226 E2 is a great first buy; good move buying after handling a lot of models! There are a few good 22lr pistols out there, but be sure to check out the 22lr P226 conversion kit!

Don't hesitate to ask questions, there is a lot of knowledge around here ;)

Really looking forward to it! Thanks. I'm looking to order a metal guide rod for the sig from the US. Is it a problem? It's only $12 but I'm unsure of rules. Thanks.

My 9mm came with a metal guide rod, but I ordered one for my classic 22lr from sigpower. There was no prob shipping it to canada. The shipping was first screwed up (like 45$), but email jeff and he will fix it (unless he fixed his website already).

Did you ever try the H&K?

I'm still looking and have been through an XD40 (liked it), CZ SP01 (thumb always sat on the mag release dumping the mag) , Glock 17 (too big for my hands, balance not so good), Glock 22 (ok) and a Browning Hi-Power (nice grip size, great balance).

Does the decocker on the Sig mess you up for your second shot?

I tried everything I could hold but the Sig had the best feel, both for grip and control function.

I was looking at ordering the metal (sig factory) guide rode from Top Gun Supply. In my other hobby (open track car lapping) I found I could get almost everything shipped USPS avoiding the dreaded 'brokerage charge'.
