New HDS (Home Defence Shotgun)

I have only run into feeding issues once with my Grizzly. It occurred after putting a few hundred rounds through it. I did a standard clean (which it was lacking at the time) and its been fine ever since.

I didnt really like the Archangel furniture on my 870 so I switched to magpul stuff. But I did like the idea of the Archangel stuff on my Grizz... its much lighter than the other stuff I had on there.

The Archangel stock doesnt seem to fit as well to the receiver as the other pistol grip I had on there. But I really like the fore end. I also put on a flashlight I had laying around.

Looks great! Like the choice of stock adapter too...I really like the Mesa Tactical LEO. Just ordered another for the Mossberg also.

I just received and installed the $39 LED forend from CanAm, and it fit on to my DA tube with no fitment issues. With your short barrel, the flashlight would stick out like crazy though.

Sharpen the flashlight! :)

How awful is the forend? It gets bad press, but how bad could it be?

I like it...how can it be any worse than what came with the Grizzly? LOL...

The flashlight is a regular aluminum bodied LED flashlight that fits tightly on to the holder at the bottom of the forend. The back of the holder is open so that you can access the push button to switch the light on and off. The light comes with a clip that slips on top of a tab as extra insurance that the light doesn't fall off...though it's so tight in the holder that I doubt it would go anywhere.

The light gets in the way of the rotating sling loop that's built in to the Grizzly mag cap. I have a Mesa Tactical sling loop that is clocked to the side in order to remedy this.

Love your idea of a flashlight bayonet...lol.

Forgot to add that the description on CanAm's site says that there is a tape switch on the grip to operate the light...there obviously isn't any on the version I received. Mine's also ribbed and doesn't look like the smooth one on the picture.

Bonus of a flashlight bayonet is that as you stick people, you get a free, super high speed red filter, to stay low visibility as your kill streak gets higher ;)

^^ I think it just might. Fits nicely in many places. I like that the mag can be kept with a few rounds in it but safe elsewhere. Quicker than loading rounds into a tube if necessary.

Put another 40 rounds through her today including a few slugs. All 2 3/4 and not one jam or issue at all. They all shot perfect and the gun cycled perfect. This is with only one mag mind you. I will pick up another one at some point and keep my fingers crossed it works as well as this one does. But honestly, for the money, this is a fun little shotgun. Im very happy with it. When a bit more snow melts and I can actually get into my usual shooting spot ill see how accurate it is.

So I make a thread about my new shotgun setup the way I like it and people feel compelled to post that they dont like it and put up pics of what they feel is better. For the record, I dont do that. If you like your gun, good for you. I like mine. Too bad so many on this forum feel the need to voice their preference at every possible moment instead of letting everyone have their own fun.

FWIW, I do like ^^ that. But its not my favourite style. If you had a thread up showing it off, I wouldn't post up that I dont like it and post up pics of my gun though. I start my own thread about my own gun. Oh wait, Id did.

Easy there big rig, don't get all butt-hurt, nobody kicked your dog. It's the interwebz - don't take it (or yourself) so seriously, when you put something up for everybody to look at they're not all going to pat you on the back and say "good boy" - some are going to point out shortcomings in your shooting style and weapons-handling and some are going to comment on your choice of base gun or mods. Nobody's bleeding and maybe you'll learn something...

Some people have no manners, and add nothing to the thread. I like your shotgun :). It solves a number of problems.

Im not offended at all. Im annoyed. I dont take anything on the internet too seriously but every once and a while I get the urge to point out the ignorance of others when it comes to common etiquette. If you were in my home and I showed you my gun (that sounds SUPER dirty) would you tell me you dont like it, get your gun and say "this is what a real gun looks like?". Not likely because in person most of us have manners. On the internet though, sadly, non are required. We all stand behind the excuse that "its the internet" but the truth is, no one really feels "good" about being on the other end of it. Instead of using that as excuse, why not just change your behaviour and live in a way that makes others feel better?

Now dont get me wrong. Im not sitting here upset. Im going to go to bed in a bit and this isnt going to linger in my mind for a second. But here I am, and here I think. I do know the vast majority will judge these comments even more harshly though. And thats o.k. Truth is, all it will do is highlight what ive said even further. But its the internet, so its completely acceptable.

Too true. Some people's kids.

Nice job on the build. Enjoy!

So far i have put 500 rounds through mine, no issues what so ever. I did order some extra mags and had to bend the lips in slighty as they stopped the bolt from locking. Only about 1/32 but that was enough. after that all worked fine. The shop I got it fromnswore it ws not a grizzly rather a norinco, but I thought the griz was made by them???
