Cool. Can come with a floorplate or a DM (same weight). 20" barrel. Good weight if the price is reasonable. I wonder how much it will go for.

Wonder if they could have lost an ounce or two if they ran with a 13.5" LOP instead of 13.85".

I like it. Usually I'd prefer a hinged floorplate, but that magazine system is pleasing to my eye; shades of the custom Brno Scout with the extended magazine featured in "Art of the Rifle". Now if they were to bring out a .350 Magnum version . . .

this is a really interesting option, especially when compared to the tikka superlite, coopers and kimbers, or the ruger scout rifle.

For approx $200 more you could get a Kimber Montana with a 22" barrel in 7mm-08 and be lighter still.

Would the stock be a B&C or similar? I wonder about the weight, if it is a lightweight, stiff stock, the price would be more in line. A B&C medalist sporter is around 28 ounces, I doubt they would use something that heavy. Is it Tupperware?

Its only money, they make it every day. Just because its made by Howa, doesn't mean the dollar value isn't there. If the stock is a Kevlar blend, that adds to the price, as does the magazine system over the floorplate. If Remington produced a similar rifle it would be in the $2K range, like the M-7 KS, that cost double what the standard M-7 cost. If it had SAKO stamped on it, it would be up around $3K. To my eye, this rifle is more desirable than the Ruger Scout, for similar dollars.

Nice rifle, but the detachable mag seems a bit out of place for a MTN rifle. Almost like they're tying for some of the tactical crowd with that feature.

It is a nice clean looking mag system... but if I'm crawling over hill and dale with a pack and rifle, I'm wanting a nice flush floorplate. JMO.

Stock is said to be a Banser, epoxy/fiberglass.

It is a nice clean looking mag system... but if I'm crawling over hill and dale with a pack and rifle, I'm wanting a nice flush floorplate. JMO.

Agreed, looks much more like my idea of a mtn rifle with the floorplate/internal mag option.

I'm thinking that barrel would be good and hot and accuracy gone south before the magazine was emptied in fairly quick succession as the tacticool guys would want to do Yeah its a bit of a carbuncle on a mountain rifle a flush mount would look better and suit the function required just fine. But there's lots of people that dig the big old detch magazine just because, they'll probably sell quite a few.
