New Hunting Rifle: MR1

With all of these different combinations I have not been able to generate any 1MOA groupings at 100yards. Not even close to 1MOA. However, I have heard great hings that people are getting .5MOA with this gun. I tried reaching out to them but no luck.

Honestly, the gun is sitting in my cabinet as a virgin. I am still deciding on what scope to put on it as the 2-7x32 isn't cutting it for me. However, I speak with a gent from Wolverine Supplies and I am ordering the Tri Rail front mould, bi-pod and a few other this and that's. Once the gun is built, I will start working on tight groups.

Curious, do you have the 12.5 or 20" Barrel?

I couldn't agree with you more on not believing everything you hear. I just figured if guys say they are getting decent groupings with factory loads, I just figured well then I should be able to get excellent accuracy and performance from hands loads. I mean that's what it is all about.

Anyways, because I have not found a load for the gun yet I’ve decided to go back to the drawing board and purchased the following ammo so that I could see what bullets it may like.

Nosler Varmigeddon 55gr BT
Nosler Varmigeddon 55gr Hollow point
Nosler Varmigeddon 60gr BT
Nosler partition 75gr
Nosler partition 62gr

My barrel is the 20' and I also have the telescoping stalk which really helps with check weld that's for sure. No problems there. I have attached a photo

sharp looking gun! i went with the comforTech. My SBEII has it and I love it!

75 grain is a heck of a bullet for 223!

What u running for optics? I am looking at a 3-9 or 4-10 in either 40 or 42mm.
 
I bought one.... Cant wait for it to arrive.

Going Coyote hunting as soon as it is zero'ed

I did make myself a lair though.... I paid over 1250 :( but not by much :)

I have googled so much that the "M" "R" and "1" keys are worn away. Is there anyone who can help with modifying this gun?

Yes, I am excited to try out the 75 grains. Last night I actually went and picked up a few more boxes of bullets besides the ones I already listed above to try out.

Nosler Match grade 69gr
Federal Gold Match 73gr
Hornady V-Max 55 gr

I am going to try all of the combinations out this Friday, so tomorrow. Ill let you know how it goes. I would love to finally get thiss gun dialed in and figured out. The coyotes I have shot so far I have believe have been pure luck. Just because my bullets so far have been so inconsistent.

Oh, I also will attach shot magazine blurb about the MR1 Below. Since we were talking about MOA and the MR1.
 
well bought a scope off a member here yesterday. should take about a week to cross the country.

as for rounds, i have only purchased Fed 55 gr to date.

well not sure why upside down.... but I tried to keep irons but it just didnt work. Bought a VX-3 in a 3.5-10x40 frpm a member and a few accessories. She is pretty much ready to go.

Sighting in will proceed upon my return from Cuba in 14 days.
 
Hey J_corr. So I tried all of those rounds and it appears that the gun likes the 62 grain nosler varmingeddon bullets. However, I am still getting tight groups then random fliers. So I am now upgrading the scope to see if that is the issue.
How did you shooting go? what did you gun like work up any loads?
 
I doubt it's the scope. Pencil barrel, a shotgun gas system adapted to centerfire rifle, plus lots of stuff hanging off the barrel is never good for consistency.
With skinny barrels, 3 shot groups, with a minute or 2 between shots will tell you what it's capable of.
