I dunno, with Valentine's Day having just been and gone, I'd be tempted to take a few wipes of the cosmo and dab them on my wife...

Just hope she has no cuts as Cosmo stings like a some##### in a cut...which is fine I guess if one is into that sort of thing. :D

VERY NICE ! I'd leave her in original pristine condition!!! --- There's a ton of #4 shooters out there to burn ammo thru , --------- Whatever you do DO NOT SELL it to "Navy" he will only drop it in kerosene & shoot the crap out of it !!!!!!!;);););)
 
If you want history go to the museum.

If you want investments buy land.

What's the best you can hope for on return? A few hundred bucks maybe if you are lucky. In return you have a blob of grease in your safe hiding a rifle.

Deflower that virgin. She's waited a long time and deserves it.
 
I agree with Clay. I do not want anything thats going to sit in a safe and never get the enjoyment of firing. When you die, chances are who ever is lucky enough to get your rifles when your gone probably will not have the same love and passion of your rifles that you did, and he/she will clean up that nice rifle and bring it to the shooting range and have a great time firing it just like you should have, but never did.

You get bragging & show off right. You have it, others don't. That in itself is priceless.
 
I've seen pictures of your collection....you have more than a few to shoot, and this one will be like any of the umpteen No4s you have...my vote goes to keeping it in the greese.
 
oh-wow-haven't seen that since Sears sold them in the catalogue for $8-brand new,still in the greese[the only caveat was you had to be 18 to order one,if I recall]
 
Mine's a safe queen. I did pull most of the cosmolene off the wood though. Cosmo works well to preserve metal, it is NOT good for wood.

Clean off the wood, leave the rest as is. These are MUCH harder to find than the so call "Irish" Enfields. Collectors pay BIG bucks.....condition, condition, condition, for these rifles. Last one sold in 90 minutes of posting on a big internet gun site for over a 1000 bux US.

Mine cost 300 Cdn back in 2001.

Exactly. These are not new, they are overhauled and repacked. Like new maybe, but not new. Savage didn't use British packing and the proof mark on the bolt handle is British.

Nice pieces though.
