New Israeli HGs on Marstar site

They are very good handguns for the money. a couple of years ago I had the chance to shoot one for a day. Fit and finish is very good on the standard model. It was accurate and ran without one failure. If you are going to use it for IPSC, spend the extra and get the factory modified model. It will cost you twice as much to get the extra work done. No need to buy the chrome mags. use the blued ones. Heavy base pads are easy to make and install.

Having handled many of BUL Transmark handguns, I can confirm there is not a drop in quality when opting for a 'base model' (an inappropriate term since even the M-5 Government comes loaded with lots of features) as opposed to the higher end IPSC guns. This is an important factor in our having decided to carry BUL pistols.

As for moving into higher cost items, we believe doing so is an extremely safe bet on our part because we continue to offer considerable savings with our products when compared to equivalent offerings from the competition. As demonstrated by our continued success with Grand Power pistols (very high quality "$1,000.00 class" high tech polymer nine for less than $600) once the shooting community becomes familiar with a product that offers unprecedented value for the money in its price bracket we can't keep them on the shelves.

There's ample evidence of the extremely good price-to-performance ratio for BUL Transmark handguns on our site. For less than $700 (Canuckistan dollars) for a NIB "forty-five" you'd be really lucky to get a stripped down basic single stack 1911A1 from a domestic manufacturer. To this the budding action shooting enthusiast (or 'Canadian Gun Nut' ;)) often adds at least a few hundred bucks more buying/installing "extended this," "stainless that," "beveled this," "flared that," etc.

The BUL M-5 Gov't, which is their "entry level" model, starts sounding a lot more like it's competition's "upscale" models when you list its features: factory 3.5-4.0lb. trigger pull, snag-free fixed sights, skeletonized oval type hammer, extended safety, contoured stainless beavertail grip safety, checkered front strap, flat checkered mainspring housing, full-length recoil spring guide, ‘no bushing’ cone-type stainless steel match grade ramped heavy barrel, etc. etc. Ask yourself this: how much would a handgun with all these features cost from the competition? We're still talking about BUL's so-called base model!

As for quality, ISO 9002 certification is only the icing on the proverbial cake. Durability and dependability must come first and foremost in the products of an Israeli arms manufacturer given they are in a country whose firearms users require the utmost in reliability because their lives DO depend on it!

Every aspect of the Israeli firm's operation, including every stage of their in-house pistol production, involves many of Israel's top IPSC competitors. Having this level of expertise involved shows in the fit, finish, and especially the handling characteristics of every handgun they make. Saul Kirsch, to name but one example, is one of the world's top IPSC competitors bar none, is an engineer who also happens to be BUL's marketing manager.

We were recently visited by one of Canada's top IPSC competitors, who regularly competes in the Nationals and has been to World Shoots. His reaction to the M-5 IPSC model was pleasant surprise followed by enthusiasm: "There's nothing else that needs to be done to this ... are you sure this is an out-of-the-box gun? Really? Wow."

We're really looking forward to getting more M-5 and Storm pistols into the hands of the RFC. The M-5's compare very well with other high cap. 1911A1's even before you take their very attractive price into consideration.

Sorry Peter - Saul left Bul at the start of this month and now shoots for STI. :D

No need to apologize for the fact Saul has for many years consistently been one of IPSC's top competitors worldwide with BUL Transmark M-5 series pistols. His experience, along with the hands on' expertise of several other top-ranked Israeli IPSC competitors and other experts on staff with the company, will continue to be evident in BUL's high quality high capacity handguns.

does the M5 and IPSC model differ with regards to the barrel? are both BULL barrels?

They're all BUL(tm) barrels, of course :D

(sorry, couldn't resist) :p

All M-5 series 'high capacity 1911A1' type handguns feature the match grade stainless steel cone-type heavy/bull barrels.

Hope this helps,

Gee, I was just thinking of getting an ARMCO prepped Norc1911 and now the BUL is here. Guess I need to do some debating on what to go for. This will be my first pistol (shot a friends .22 and 9mm along time ago) so any input appreciated.

Peter:

I won't have a chance soon to handle one, could you give me (and all of us) and idea what the width of the grip is on these guns? I'm guessing double-stack would be a fair bit wider than a "normal" 1911?

Thanks for the info!

Good morning:

I've just taken (approximate) measurements of the BUL M-5 grip width where the grip safety meets the mainspring housing. The width of the M-5 is 1.25", which is about identical to a USGI 1911A1 with standard grips.

If you're comfortable handling a 'box stock' 1911A1's grip width you'll be just fine with an M-5.

Hope this helps,

- Peter

Peter,
Sounds like a nice piece, dbl. stack especially! --My apologies for hijacking this thread , --- but while you're here , any heads up on arrivals of "affordable" 30-06 & 8mm Mauser fmj ammo , in the near future?
I know a lot of guys ( including myself) here at our R&G club , -- waiting with bated breath. & suffering from" post ammo let down syndrome. "

Peter,

Could you post some more detailed/up close pictures of the new models? I think that would go a long way to assuring potential buyers of the quality. Just a thought, but I think in the days of internet-savvy buyers, most would appreciate more detailed pics, and make them more likely to buy 'sight unseen'. Especially for guns that aren't common (yet!).

We're working on a photo gallery for these high quality high capacity handguns and hope to have some detailed photos available in the near future.

IPSC models: these sold so fast it made our heads spin! We're working on bringing another lot of them in quick as the grinding gears of bureaucracy will allow.

For any other availability questions please refer to our site - which is updated very frequently for BUL Transmark - and/or call us toll-free at 888-744-0066 (8am-12pm & 1:00pm-4:00pm EST Mon-Fri).

We are working closely with BUL Transmark to bring as many of their products to the Canadian market as possible. Due to the usual potential for import- and permit-related delays I cannot give a 'rough guesstimate' of ETA at this time.

Regards,

- Peter

Peter,

I'm interested in the Gov't M5 .40S&W in Two Tone. Are you guys carrying replacement front sites? I'd like to get a green Fiber Optic for the front.

If you don't have them now, will you be getting them in the future? How about ambidextrous safeties?

The IPSC model comes standard with ambi safety. We may carry them in future however. As for sight upgrades, we have 3-dot tritium sights in stock: just look at our Gov't and V-Jet pages where they're listed.

As for ammunition imports and anything not currently available from us, we are continuing our efforts to source hard-to-find items for the Canadian market. We've adopted a policy of not making early announcements because of importation issues and the potential lengthy delays caused by same will only make our "guesstimates" wrong.

Hope this helps,

- Peter

Gotcha... they weren't listed last time I saw that page! Who is the maker of the tritium sights? Are they BUL manufacured, or someone else?

Are they installed by you guys, or do I get to keep the 'old set'. Is the 'trade' reflected in the price? Sorry for a bit of a hijack, but I'm reallllly close to pulling the trigger on buying one of these.

The regular model is a smoking deal. I would then get new sights, magwell and a proper trigger job, save $1000 vs the IPSC model. The same bull barrel, checkering, skeletonized trigger and com. hammer.

SMOKING!
