NEW ITEM: Dominion Arms Socom 18

I am guessing, but I think he means the area of the chamber between where the bolt face would be when closed and the throat. You know, the area that is relevant when using a headspace gauge...

Yah exactly, in most rifles it's nice and smooth and yah know, perfect. but in my socom the bottom half looks like some ground it down, unevenly. stills cycles and feeds decently surprisingly.

I wish we could legally own this bullpup stock, it's amazing!!!

That is the norinco m14 - so sorry guys ... I was posting this in another page and for some weird reason it pasted it here. Tavors are selling there for 2699$

I received mine last week and finally had time to take it out of its package and take a look at it, and it seems to be pretty off from everywhere, but since I don't know anything about the m14 platform, I'm posting pictures hoping someone can give me infos on it and tell me how to fix it and bring it to spec, if possible, or if it's a lost cause!
I want to be sure I don't have to send it back before shooting it and not be able to return it, and I also have a brand new archangel stock and I want to make sure everything is OK before I grind the stock to fit it in.
I would like to shoot this rifle with the iron sights and I don't plan on putting a scope on it for now, so I would like to get those sights aligned correctly.

First: the GOOD:
- the mags fits in it and don't need to be wrestled out!
- the trigger is pretty good
- safety and bolt open lever works
- muzzle was hand tight

The BAD:
- The charging handle is very hard to rack, and even worst when I just pulled the trigger (with or without snap caps). I need to use an excessive amount of force to open the action (unless it's meant to be that way?).
- The indexing of the barrel does not seem ok
- the front sight is offset to the left
- the rear sight base is misaligned with the receiver

NOW THE PICTURES:

rear sight:
there is an angle in the base of the rear sight which makes it misaligned with the receiver, even though the adjustment notch are aligned in the middle.

I also saw someone light up the magwell to see if the bolt closes correctly so here is a picture of mine so someone can tell me if it looks OK!:

Thanks in advance to everyone!

I put a video together showing some close ups of the gun as well as some shooting. I guess I was lucky to get a gun with no major issues at all. I love thins thing!

Nice Videos. In the one video you state that you just can't understand why some people are bummed with the issues they are having because your gun has only the minor issue of a slightly under indexed ( by the look of it) barrel.
Imagine if yours was not functional? It's not hard to guess how you's feel at that point.....
I was lucky as well as mine is also under indexed and everything seems straight inside. I won't know till I have a chance to shoot it but compared to some of the other guns out there mine looks like a winner.

Your left lug bearing looks exactly like mine did. And your left receiver lug looks like it might be milled on an angle as well like mine. Check it again and make sure you have rearward pressure on the bolt to close any gaps that may exist. Then see if that gap is still there...

You can kind of see that leftover ridge at the outside part of the receiver lug like I had here: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/995441-DA-Socom-18-bolt-receiver-lug-issue

Wow did i ever win the chinese lottery with mine after seeing others, only thing i had was a rear sight that needed replCig due to coming loose and my op rod guides still loose and misalligned but not enough to affect function.. One day il be confident enough to do the peening. That barrel on urs is hard to tell if its indexed proper without lining up the gas holes or using the flat bar method, chexkout previous posts for instructions. Id say that one is decent though based off me seeing barrels even worst then that. Ur sights r brutal though hope u can get that squared away. Otherwise looking decent.

I've read your post and it's getting me worried!

I took some more pictures of the bolt with a snap cap in the chamber (fired or unfired did not change the bolt position)

the gap in front is not a problem? Only when there is one in the back?
So I would be good to go regarding the bolt?

Is there anything to do to get my front sight straight, and the base of the rear sight aligned with the receiver, because right now it looks really «made in china» (yes I know it is!) :p
