NEW Kodiak Defence WK180 GEN 3 is HERE! Source: Canadian Caliber - YouTube.

Looks sharp. Not big on folding stuff usually, but this folding stock looks pretty cool. Nice to see these rifles evolving. Looking forward to some reviews.

The WK181 will likey receive the updated upper except for the gas system unless they have balanced the new gas system for 7.62x39 as well as 5.56x45

If not then given the current WK181 gas system has had no gas issues (known to myself) and ran 10,000 rounds in one test without a gas system issue then I think it will stay the same until they can change it to the new one

Canada is the only place that consumes 18.5" rifle. Only things from the 70's have long rod because back then everyone still thought a rifle needs to be 18 to 20 bbl. All those rifles back in the days use the gas block to retain handguard, so there is no choice but to make a long push rod .

Mechanically the shorter the rod the less can go wrong ( look at G36 and how they made the first retained pin hanguard that can be taken off to service the gas system, once the gas block is not used to retain handguard, they optimize the push rod length) - the rod itself and also the angular alignment. With short push rod, the handguard must be able to come off easy. So either path A or B, the compromise needs to be made.

But this is also the consumer market. Aesthetic, pre-conception ( like this over-gassing idea)..are just as important. Like the side charging handle business, IMHIO it is the weakest point of all the Canadian rifles.

"I believe this gun and the Crypto are going straight onto the prohibited list"

Let's be serious.
The Crypto is already prohibited. They just haven't bothered to fill in the FRT yet.

Meanwhile the WK-180 already has a non-restricted FRT.

Makes completely sense.

That Wes Winkel guy is yapping off about this gun to the wrong people.

I believe this gun is destined for the prohibited list sooner rather than later.

It's a rifle that if added to the list will ensure the government retains support for the buyback from a certain group.

Adding this gun to the list doesn't have to make sense, it's a political move.

Just check the list for other guns that don't seem to meet the criteria to be prohibited.

They can add any gun at any time with impunity.

Generation 3 of the dumpster fire.

Timestamp 2:50 ....the man speaking states you will run into stoppages and stove pipes if you attempt to fire the rifle with the stock folded!

Kodiak openly confirms a major design flaw (amongst how many others may be still lurking) and doesn't see anything wrong with that at all and according to the rep the first few hundred rifles produced are all going to be shipped out with this known flaw.

This is the only thing I can come up with to describe the thought process at Kodiak.

The only way any of these 180 pattern ####boxes are ever going to work out is if someone exports a sample to China so Norinco can work out all the bugs.
