I think savage is also putting TWS packages together like Remington did with the 700. Personally I still prefer the McMillan version over the HS-Precision.

I used to like the HS better but with the A5...It just blew me away!

I've heard Savage was planning to continue production of the blind magazine box as well. Just curious if they are continuing with the A3 on that model or did they go to the A5 for both?

I'd prefer a blind box to a clip for my purposes.

The A2 or A3, forgot which one it was, is still available but not the HS without the mag..

I don't don't know much about the McMillan & HS - Precision stocks, can you tell me what makes one better than the other. I plan on buying a .308 10FP rifle soon.

HbBear, which ever fits you better. Both are just fine for their intended use.

The center feed d mag will only come in the standard 308, 06 and magnum sizes. Despite much pleading from yours truly, doesn't look like anything is in the works for a 223 d mag. It might be possible to tack on different feed lips to make this work but I don't have the tools to try.

Skullboy, if you can find an A5 stock, you can just drop in a standard 12FV 223 and get the same thing but with a blind mag. cost should be very similar too.

If you want to build a real tack driver for about the same money as the factory Savage, PM me.

Great choice on either...McMillan & HS Precision... Well you're paying both for the name & both are great..Just personal preference but the HS is $200 cheaper.

Doesn't the HS come with an aluminum bedding block but the McMillan does not? On a couple of Precision Shooting sites, the HS seems to be preferred because of the block. I think I'd go with the HS.....$200 cheaper plus a bedding block:cool: .

You are correct but the MAC doesn't really require bedding if you don't want to..But the feel of tha MAC stock is priceless!!

I have a guy who's letting me play with his French GIAT FRF2 .308 sniper rifle tomorrow, I'll post pics asap...

There are many here that have bedded the HS stock to remove any possibility of there rifle moving in the stock and as Airborn 69 pointed out the McMillan stocked Savage rifle has pillar bedding blocks and is bedded and it has a much better feel to the stock:dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:
