Come for a visit, but leave your damn vegemite at home!
I've been told (and heard) that you guys have a fair amount of gun crime. Is that true?
Hi and welcome to CGN!![]()
Welcome to the board, I am actually in the process of trying to relocate to Australia...and am not envious of your gun laws at all.![]()
Just waiting on my wife's nursing accreditation to be accepted.
Come for a visit, but leave your damn vegemite at home!
You've obviously never had it on toast![]()
No.
On the other hand, I have heard that since your current gun laws were put in place, your violent crime has increased.![]()
Tried toast and a cracker, just not my thing. I work at an Anglo owned mine so we have lots or Australians here trying to push that stuff. Its definitely an acquired taste.

Welcome aboard. I love this site!
My uncle just flew back to Oz,
But not before he got some range time!
Its a shame about the gunlaws in Austrailia,
My uncle told me, and I did some research,
if we're not careful it could happen here!
Come for a visit, but leave your damn vegemite at home!
Welcome! Spent a winter backpacking Oz a few years ago... good times... fantastic weather and beaches...
Although I must admit Oz has Canada beat in the nanny state department, which blew my mind a little because I thought we were pretty bad here. Have they managed to ban "glass" yet there? They seemed to have moved on from banning guns to banning glass at the time I was there.
Welcome to CGNenjoy the site

Welcome aboard, where about in oz are you?
Welcome to the forum. I've got a bit of an Australian thing going, returning in August for the 4th time in as many years. Met up with Kombie on my first trip down.
I like the hunting up in the NT, and will be bringing my own rifles along just like every time before. The temporary importation and non-resident gun license is easy to get, but takes a bit of time. I don't know how hard it is to bring them in permanently but know that it is done quite often. One of these years I'm going to leave a couple there permanently, registered to a friend in Darwin just to avoid airline hassles and fees.
I am trying in vain to remember a single person that I know that has ever been a victim of a gun crime. In fifty years of being surrounded by guns I can't think of a single one.
Thanks. I was wrong about importing firearms in general. I remember now that semi-automatics are very hard to import into the country, but firearms that fall under the A/B license category are not. Apparently over 40,000 firearms are imported every year.
I was thinking of going to Darwin sometime this year as I'm never been before. When were you last here?
