New military round for USA

M43 Russian Ball sucks ass for shooting people.

Even with armour and plate --> NSR - I guarantee I can punch a plate with 5-6 rounds in the same spot (close enough for gov't work)

Before debating a suject like this you need to understand that carrying guns and ammo for days in rough terrain and condition is much different than going from the range parking lot to the firing point. Then you need to understand the user's perspective. When shooting at mobile targets from a not ideal firing position, all you do is try to get the ennemies to keep their heads down while other freindly troops are moving in to get the objective. The process make you spend 1000's or rds on the general target area just to keep their head down. For doing the job back when we used the FN 7.62 and also since we've switched to the 5.56. I would'nt go back

The Swedish army used 6.5x55mm for quite some time. They currently use 5.56mm.

why cant we update the ak design with more accuarcy, and give it to our boys with the 7.62 loaded nice and hot? seems to me alot of problems could be solved with less money required for research.

I know Canada hasnt had AK's in a long time, but new production AK's from russia have pretty much the same accuracy as an M4 in the same caliber. Stop comparing to Norinco AK's that came in the country some 20 years ago. And las for 7.62 loaded nice and hot... obviously you havent asked the troops what they want.

Makes sence to me! I would think .223 would kill ya just as dead as 7.62x39

It's been established that fragmentation is what causes the deadliest wounds from military ammo. I'm a civvie, so that means I can use whatever ammo I want. I'd go with varmint bullets in a 223, something like the Hornady TAP ammo.
