New Nightforce ATACR F1 Riflescopes 5-25x & 4-16x

If your a die hard NF fan this is what you've been waiting for. Looking at what it will cost in Canada and the features offered there are still better options out there. This will be a 3500 dollar scope plus taxes. Still nice to see NF putting options out there though. They make great stuff. Keep us posted Komb. Curious why they went with a capped windage knob.

Although its nice to see Nightforce introducing new F1 models this scope seems to fill a gap that didnt really exist since introducing the Beast. The 5-25 ATACR will cannibalize sales from the Beast line and the 2nd FP ATACR series. I personally think this new scope is what the Beast should have been right from the beginning and it wouldn't surprise me if it causes the Beast to eventually be discontinued. IMO there are already enough scopes in the $3K+ market. What is needed is more quality FFP scopes in the $2K range. If Nightforce introduced an NXS F1 line (like many have been asking for) they would dominate this market segment.

You are right about these biting into the BEAST and the ATACR F2. But those weren't what people wanted and Nightforce took a lot of heat for that. The response to these has been mostly positive. So far the gripes have been about reticles. But, that's easy for them to address.

I think you'll find the NXS mostly being phased out. The NXS F1 is now listed in the discontinued models. They don't have feature that tactical shooters want, they don't have the magnification F-Class and benchrest shooters want and they're too expensive for most hunters. Nightforce now has scopes that are geared towards each of there groups with the new ATACR F1s, Competition/Benchrest models and the SHVs. Pretty sure a new 1-6x is in the works that will replace the 1-4x NXS. Stuff changes, and with their line, change was long overdue.

Btw, the F1 5-25 ATACR is a completely different scope than the F2 ATACR. Put their pictures side-by-side and you'll see it.

Edit:
F1 = FFP
F2 = SFP (the original ATACR)

It's looking like $3300.00 minimum when it hits Canada. "

Start at $3193.

What's the quality of NF glass, on par with other top tier optics (SB, USO.. ect)???

I think it really depends who you ask. The new Nightforce glass is closing the gap on S&B, but I haven't spent the whole day behind a Schmidt, just an hour here and there. I think if you were looking for tops, it would be the S&B, Hensoldt, and Tangent Theta. Again, depends who you ask, everyone's eyes see something differently, and then you need to ask yourself if it is 1000 or 2000$ better for YOU.

As far as the quality of the glass you ask 5 opinions and get six answers. One thing for sure is your not going to get a more robust and reliable scope than a NF in my opinion. Also S&B only has a two year warranty and they do break, believe me. Its funny regarding the posts of the change in Sightron's Warranty and all the #####ing because its changed to 10 yrs and nobody bats an eyelash when they fork out the scratch for a S&B with a 2 year warranty.

Looks excellent. Those Horus reticle give me a headache..... Way to busy, used one in a S&B, hated it. MOAR in 5-25 would be sweet on the HS 50 though, extra elevation is wicked. The only thing it leaves now is that it puts it within 200-300 dollars of the S&B with roughly the same elevation and comparable reticles. Leaves me to wonder which one is actually top dog in that category. I have looked through and used both and my opinion seems to change as to wether or not the glass is any better or different on either one, both track and repeat with absolute precision, both are tough as nails, similar elevation and windage available at comparable price points, reticles are close enough to similar and always come down to personal opinion anyways, just leaves the glass and the name from there.....
