New Optics line development - Need your input

I would buy a 1-6 or 1-8. Not a 1-4.

This. The Sightron stac 1-7 is where I'm looking. 2-10 would be fine. Some basic mil ballistic reticle. Lots of eye relief. FFP might be too much to ask at a better price point. The Diamond 2-8 side focus paralax would be the competition cheaper than Leo VX3 or Sightron. Is there profit availability in a larger mag range DG-esque scope under $700cnd that stays together on a heavy mag caliber?

The more I hunt with a scope with 1-2x bottom range the better I like it. Limited to 4-6x top end hurts flexibility for NA hunting. Maybe this isn't possible lower prices for the same features and durability that already exist.

So, if I understand this correctly, everybody wants the perfect scope which is:

1-27x magnification ffp with 1x being true 1x
Tactical Turrets that can be covered with 100% repeatability
Daylight bright illumination that is NV compatible and has a battery life of 10 years on one AA
Dual mil/MOA reticle
Glass that's makes Schmidt and Bender look like NC Star
Zero Stop
10" Long, 11oz
Comes in a pelican case
Unlimited transferable lifetime warranty covering owner abuse
$500 cost (shipping included)

Available options (all free of course)
Disables bears using only the ocular ring
Can track bullets fired into space
Allows any rifle to be carried in the front seat

/sarcasm

If you can't do better than the present offerings the business case isn't there. It very difficult to out "Walmart Walmart". Either the offerings now are overpriced or they leave just enough for a profit margin. I've been there. Building a better mousetrap for less would probably be done already if it was feasable.

1-6x with decent clarity and some durability....
With CanAm we know we will get good service is anything goes wrong with it!

Meopta make some neat high end stuff at a reasonable price. There is currently just a few small vendors carrying them.

FFP!
Adjustments in MRAD
1-6 in a 30mm tube
Zero Reset
Zero Stop
Capped or Uncapped with locking turrets
Fixed Parallax
3-4 Eye relief
Reticle design that can support 556, 7.62x39 and 7.62x51 . Illumination is a major plus. Reticles should be adequate for quick ranging and hold over, but have a good balance of clean reticle and functionality. I can't stand reticles with hash marks or christmas trees up the ying yagn.

Durability vs weight trade off... I want a scope to survive a drop or drag, but not major abuse. That said I'll take a tank over a china cup.

something ultralight .

Lots of $ being spent on ultralight rifles such as the Sako Carbonlight or Ti actions and # 1 contour barrels. People spend thousands on light rifles...but are forced to put on heavy optics. Other then the Leupold vx 2 ultralight there are basically nobody catering to the light weight optics crowd

Yes! This! 3-12x magnification and the ability to survive a drop off a cliff would be nice. (Don't ask. Just glad it was a vortex.)

Voigtlander made scopes in the past, and their current lenses come out of the same factory as some of the most optically correct on the planet, namely Leica Summi's and Tessars. If they were willing to sit down and review the Vortex business model, and evaluate the scope market, I'd say they'd be a contender. This would be a year long process at least, but just imagine what a piece of kit that would be.

My Canon L series pro glass, and Cooke S4 cine lenses($25k a piece), can barely hold up against my Voightlanders for sharpness, aberrations and clarity, and they're for a Micro 4/3 system..... ohhhhh the possibilities....

Oh yeah, my Fuji XE ll wears 3 voigtlander lenses, abosulutly one of my favourite lense makers.

1-10x isn't something I see a lot, but would cover both hunting and a fair amount of LR target use if the quality is good...

This with an illuminated reticle. No more than 10 inches in OAL.
If you do go with 35mm scopes, please have rings availble

1-4X is good, but I think they are being outdated by 1--6 or even 1-8X

Mil/mil or moa/moa no mix of turret and reticle please. And i like the 1-4 or the fixed 3.5 except not sure it needs to be 35mm objective. And the fixed power. Please have a graduated reticle instead of generic duplex reticle as an option.
