New Pistol Safe

It's made of steel, uses a combination to open (simplex lock) and it has some heft to it. Sure as hell sounds like a safe to me. Actually these safes would be a b!tch to open so they are good to go. I have a similar model mounted under my desk. The nay sayers will tell you that isn't secure. Those are the same folks who say that just a trigger lock on a non-restricted isn't good enough. They expect you to build Fort Knox in your house. Go by what the regs say and sleep well.

Your definition of "secure" is obviously not the same as my definition of "secure". Any lock that can be manipulated open in a matter of minutes, leaving no trace, such as simplex locks or even grade 2 mechanical combination locks, are definitely by no means "secure". ##### to open? Maybe if you're a 6yr old with one arm.

No one expects you to build Fort Knox. But these boxes are by no means "safes", no matter what you or the salesman might say. Good enough to meet storage laws? Definitely. Without trigger locks? That's anyone's guess.

Yup, as long as it takes some force to open and as it's bolted in a way that prevents a thief from just picking it up and walking away with it, it's legit.

I just bought a new safe for my ever-expanding collection. It's got much thicker steel than the Stack-On I started out with, but the locking mechanism is still the weak point. Someone determined enough will probably get in. Still, I'm way above and beyond the letter of the law...

asked the ontario CFO about firesafes, and others like this, they said they were legal, they just need to be bolted down was what I was told.
A tupperware case with a padlock and triger lock is all thats required if you go by the book.
Unfortunately the CFO and the police don,t go by the book...they tend to make it up as they go along.
Office supply stores sell small safes with a key lock and/or combination lock.
bolt it down, or as i did, several flat sheets of lead and two of them bolted together...some one wants to steal my safes is welcome to the hernia.:D

Those locks are in use in correctional facilities all over the country. Good enough for me.

Last I checked, jails were for keeping people IN... Not OUT. Bell Canada uses Simplex locks on all their COs... Now you say some jails use simplex... Good for them. But that by no means makes them "secure", as you claimed.

Simplex locks are known for their durability, not their security. Here's the Webster's definition of "secure", for your reference safe from penetration or interception by unauthorized persons

Oh well, believe whatever you want. I'm through with this pissing contest.

Pissing contest? All I read was someone claiming something was "secure" that is far from it. That's it, that's all. There's enough misinformation about my trade out there already, no need for anymore. Cheers.

Maybe I have a different dictionary...well actually I'm using dictionary.com!! ;)

Here is the whole line...

Secure
safe from penetration or interception by unauthorized persons: secure radio communications between army units.

How does one intercept the contents of a safe? Did it sprout wings? Take some bad "cid" and go on a bad trip?

:onCrack:

Are you for real?

Have you ever used a dictionary before? The second part is THE WORD BEING USED IN A SENTENCE... AS AN EXAMPLE.

I suggest you edit your post before tons of people see you don't even know how to use a dictionary. :D

Using your logic, how does one "penetrate" a radio signal? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA good job, ace.

My cat feels secure when in my arms. Does that mean it cannot be forcibly opened?

In the context of "feelings"... free from or not exposed to danger or harm. ie: synonym of SAFE.

My god you people need to pick up a book once in a while. Secure can also mean PROCURE/OBTAIN... Who's gonna make some stupid comment about that?

:)

I'm just f*ckin' around man, I'm gonna have to spend all night at work and I'm bored already...

:D That's why god invented ####.

By the way, there's a joke somewhere in there about your cat and forcible penetration, but I don't want to get banned.

Penetrate a radio signal eh? Wow...that is a toughy...hmmm...I guess it would be called an encrypted radio signal. Look that up.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!! Good job, queen.

I would vote to not have you banned. We are all adults and this is just play time...at least for me. Nothing personal.

Signal "penetration" or signal stealing happens every day in the world of electronics and internet.
In the same vein, you need to "lock" your communications, just like a safe.
Encryption: 64 bit = simplex
128 or 256 bit = Better.. :D

Not only would you risk getting banned, you would be wrong. My cat has a built-in grade 3 security system against forcible penetration called CLAWS OF INALIENABLE FURY.
