New Primary Arms SLX 3X Micro Prism w ACSS Raptor reticle

The 1x microprism is badass, so I can only imagine this one will be too. Cant wait for the pegasus magnifier to come to Canuckistan.

Waiting for the restock of the 1X hoping the 3x Magnifier is on that shipment to. 5X Prism release soon no doubt.

I find the drop points on the 1X prism 9mm gemini to be too close together to be easy to use, the proximity makes it cluttered and distracts from a clear hold point.

The chevron on the 1x is also too small to really use the way they suggest by it providing 3 different holds, above and below the chevron and also at the horizontal intersection of the lower tips of the chevron.

I would imagine the 3x will have a bigger reticle over all and hopefully perform better! As it is with their 1X they should get rid of the ranging bars and extra clutter and just let a user hold over or under as needed old school style.

In my opinion.... :)

What's the advantage of a 1x prism scope over a red dot optic anyway?

I would use a 3x/5x as an affordable acog/elcan stand-in.

Diopter adjustment for people with vision issues, better for people with astigmatism, doesn't need batteries to used the etched reticle.
Main disadvantages are price ,weight and there is an "eye box" so you need to have the optic mounted closer to the eye then a red dot.

The red dot is just that, a non intuitive dot. The ACSS reticle has holdovers, windage, yardage, etc. The eye box relief is very generous with this optic along with shadowing. And best of all if it fails "ecthed reticle" and no more "co witness" hassle.
And a weight savings from the previous generation "Weight18.4oz" New 3X "Weight 7.95oz"

I don't see your price disadvantage compared to some of those overpriced, featureless RD's.

Well if they are cheaper then red dot's now that's great news! The new generation size and weight loss was huge.... now they are cheaper then red dot's too!
Sweet.... :)

Red dot's have advantages. It's nice to have options.

Another advantage of 3x and 5x units with hold over is that you don't need a separate magnifier like you would with a 1x unit.

Personally another beef against the new primary arms micro units is the lack of flip cap option. 3X and 5X prisms can be converted into a makeshift 1 X optic by simply turning on the illumination and flipping the front cap down and shooting both eyes open.

The main reason I switched from a red dot to a 1x Microprism is my astigmatism. Also I wanted the increased durability, and etched reticle (no batteries required) that comes along with using a prism optic. After some fiddling I have found the perfect balance with the diopters to be able to use a magnifier with the prism, while not giving up clarity at 1x. The eye box with the microprism is huge, and I really haven't noticed any difference from a dot sight. It can be a pain getting the diopter set, but once set it is done.

Really digging this sight, and find with the magnifier the ACSS reticle is awesome for more distanced shots out around 300Y.

Got it, ACSS reticle is advantageous, I have several LPVOs with it. I would go for a 3x or 5x prism scope over a 1x still. I can't justify spending 2k on a spectre and considering my eyes are still fairly reliable, red dot with cowitness functions well enough for my cqb needs. I never really got into the whole magnifier as a separate unit setup.

I like the large FOV they have compared to a red dot. Compared to my vortex crossfire, the 1x microprism probably has at least a 50% wider FOV through the optic. Also no blue tint. Yeah you're supposed to use red dots both eyes open but if you have it in front of your dominant eye your brain is gong to prioritize that image through the sight. Just what I have noticed anyway.

Has anyone seen any of these 3x microprisms in Canada yet? I check periodically on the websites of the supporting sponsors here that carry Primary Arms but so far all I have seen are the 1x versions.

Check with RDSC for the 3x micro magnifier. Not in-stock but you can backorder. Still waiting on the first shipment to hit Canada.

i do not know if i like a small unit. this is what i like in the previous version: size is great for the 3x. yes it is not unlimited eye relief but it is working great on t81 picatinny rail or look alike ar15 what else do we need ...
