New Product Alert: Ruger PC Carbine barrels

...do we have a barrel diameter?...can't seem to see it with my grandpa eyes?

Only that it is heavier contour than original. I am think it's full .920 bull by the looks of it.

I would be happy with original diameter as my goal would be to shed weight up front. Obviously this will still be achieved but with all the stuff available for PCC I wouldn't want to jeopardize compatibility with some 3rd party offerings.

Flutes

Forgive me if this is obvious, but why increase the barrel profile? Just to handle high volume shooting better? I just picked up a stock pcc for this actually but it doesnt seem like the barrel is... lacking? I was thinking of asking this in my order but here seems more appropriate. Why bother with flutes and not just go down in barrel profile where you can. Also would really like to know just how much weight you'd save on fluted vs non fluted 7". Because there's not a whole lot there to flute, maybe the 10" weight comparison would be handy for someone else too while youre at it!
Thanks

The barrels are a straight 1" diameter the whole length.

The only handguard option we have encountered that has a compatibility issue is the plain-Jane plastic for-end from the factory Rugers. The magpul ones are fine, the Midwest Industries ones are fine. We're always on the lookout for more options to check against.

Barrel profile is increased because short-fat barrels are just better. Also, significantly less machine time dealing with straight blanks.

Here's some weight comparisons:

7" barrel, non fluted 1.06 lbs, and fluted 0.87 lbs.

And the 10.5", non fluted 1.76lbs, and fluted 1.33 lbs.

God damn that's some next level client care just sharing your CNC data like that. Thanks for being so open and actually responding to questions.

Can't wait for you guys to tell us when you receive the blanks and start working on them !

…short…fat…is awfully attractive in this context…thanks for the specs…as I am a wee bit of a spec nerd. Looking forward to a great range day around St.Patrick’s Day….?

On the Midwest handguard, it appears that there are M-Lok slots for attaching a piece of pic rail up top, for a reddot sight. How about your proprietary handguard? Is that little saddle on top somehow allowing for sight attachment?

Your handguard is a lot more attractive, IMHO...but attaching a red dot easily is mandatory. If that design is not already finalized, maybe you could tweak it to allow sight mounting?

It's being designed to accept Spuhr style accessories on top, meaning direct spuhr mount red dot plates, OR spuhr pic rail sections.

Okay, thanks for that info. Personally, I would likely steer back towards the Midwest unit just for convenience; have a bunch of M-Lok items already, no Spuhr. Either way, it allows for optics and that's the main thing.

Does anyone have one of these barrel options in hand yet? Haven’t seen any user feedback.

I was down in Calgary 2 weeks ago and stopped in at Alberta Tactical to drop off a hunting rifle I was getting some work done on.
while there I had a look at these - full disclosure I preordered one the day they came out.

they look really REALLY nice!
fit and finish were 10/10.
but really, AT is known for top-shelf builds so this ain't anything new.

it was interesting to see all the different lengths they had at the storefront.
they also have them with a couple of different foregrips on them.

i am really looking forward to getting mine and trying it out.

"Exclusionary legislation"?

That terminology is scary. Right now, the legislation applies to the frame; "you must get authorization to transfer this!"

If we ever get to the point where you must get authorization to transfer everything except a select few items that are specifically excluded from the requirement...which, from the government's perspective, would be the ideal situation that gives them complete control over absolutely everything...then we are all hooped.

The fact that you even worded your question this way is evidence that we are indeed being beaten into submission on a subconscious level.

So we all know that with respect to firearms in Canada, the "Registration" follows the serial # right?
In practice, the pistol frame. With restricted this means barrels and parts are free to be bought and sold without "registering" them.
With NR though, when does the transfer notification of May 2022 apply?

I know it doesn't apply to things like shotgun barrels or these PC9 barrels but can anyone point me to the exclusionary legislation?

OR

Is it one of those cases where they are not explicitly INCLUDED and are thereby excluded?

Just looking for law references.

Thanks

That is the premise of our entire legal system. (not to ever be considered a system of Justice).

Well, yes and no

Shaun, are you guys supplying take down screws for these or will buyers need to source them?
Also. do you have any ideas or plans for iron sights on these barrels? I realize they'd be pretty useless on the 7" but an option to put them on the 10.5" even using factory bits would be handy instead of needing an optic.
Maybe factory sight up front and some kind of rail mount in rear.

Nothing currently. We are investigating the possibility, but not an available option as of right now.
