New Production Auto Ordnance M1: thoughts?

True, NR status is nice and is an important factor for larger market sales in Canada. Oh well.

On a side note I did see an Auto Ordnance M1 Carbine at CanTire McPhillips in Wpg yesterday. Looked nice. Tempting.

Gents! The importer is a businessman...

Why import a bunch of Restricted rifles into a country that has a well documented history of being anti-firearm.

Sales would be dismal... and therefore un-profitable.

Re-barrel a bunch to 19" and they would sell like hotcakes... but then, they wouldn't be cheap anymore, and not original. Just a lose-lose situation.

Too bad, though... M1 carbines rock!
This is true. The restricted class makes them significantly less valuable in volume. Hopefully a handful will make it.

FWIW, speaking to desire, I just finished buying a $375 inland receiver on gun broker and paying another $300 after fees to import it through Profit River. That's $675 just for a receiver I wanted. Then I had to buy a Criterion barrel. Luckiy I already had the rest of the bits.

Those of us who want a USGI carbine are willing to pay. A supply of restricted refurbed M1 carbines would have been nice. Very nice. And NR barrels are readily available from a few Canadian sources now.

AO is OK, but GI = better.

Off topic abit ..... but would a USGI stock fit an Auto Ordnance unit? I like the look of a weathered stock over a new one.

hmmm.... I would have gone for a surplus carbine too, if they came in cheaper than the AO. I'd probably have it rebarreled to get it NR at some point. Pity...

Still....Garands and Hi Powers I'll grab both of. I've been looking at a BHP for awhile now but the new ones just leave me kind of cold. For the money on a new gun I'd buy a CZ Shadowline for less instead and have a similar looking gun with a much better trigger out of the box. For an old Inglis, though, the rose tinted safety glasses come out :)

Seems I'm going to have to pay the north end crappy tyre here a visit. Seems we have a legitimate 3rd gun store in the city now.

Where's this gun show at?
