We are progressing on our deal with Russian manufacturer of Makarov pistols in two calibers 9x18 Mak and 9x17(.380 ACP). Target sale price is less than $500.
Could you please vote on would you buy or would you not.
Thank you!

I wouldn't put my money where my mouth is unless I saw it in person or got some reviews. At that price point though I'd be very interested. Magazine and holster avalibility would also be a consideration.

.380 can be a bit of a bother to find let alone 9mm Mak IMO so I voted .380. I am happy to hear that you are aiming for a sub $500 price tag. Last time you mentioned them it was around $650. Perhaps I will finally get to burn off all the UMC .380 I have.

+1 I want to know that, too. Can you trim a Luger cartridge?

Yes you can, but unless you have a source of .363 jacketed bullets, or plan on casting and sizing your own, .380 acp is the more viable option for reloaders.

(For those that missed it, 9mm Makarov does not use a standard .354-.356 diameter bullet, but rather a larger .363 slug.)

Thanks. I thought (checked Wiki, actually) you can use the 9mm bullet of up to 115gr to reload .380ACP.

As always, I'm a sucker for a new gun. :D But getting into something I cannot easily reload would be a show-stopper.

P.S. I just re-read your response - yes, I did mean the .380 to be reloaded, not the 9X18 Makarov round.

.380 costs 1/3 more than 9mm to shoot, if you're lucky enough to find some. How about some better deals on quality compact 9mm pistols with legal barrels? EG SIG P239, the same size and capacity.
